2002 240ZT 496 Mag w/24Bravo Prop???
 

I am running a 25" Mirage with my 240ZT would a 24" Bravo 4 blade also work well. I would like more control and lift. I dinged my Mirage a little and was thinking about a four Blade. What do all of you think? I also can only run 4350 RPM but I am waiting to see if Dustin can help me there:D

I am not a prop expert so I wont offer my opinions or suggestions. However, I can tell you that I have a '99 259 with basically stock powered 454 magnum. I spin a 24 Bravo 4 Blade to 5000 r.p.m. I would imagine being that your hull is 400 lbs lighter,and you have a little more power, you should be able to pull at least 5100 r.p.m.

How do you like the 4 blade Bravo with your boat?

Also do you normally prop up when gong to a Bravo 4 blade. I am running a 25 Mirage should I get a 26" Bravo?

From my limited knowledge of props, you should go down in pitch when you go from a 3 blade to a 4 blade, if you want to attempt to keep the same rpms. So I would say, a 24 Bravo 4 blade, is comparable to your 25 Mirage. To answer you about how I like my 24 Bravo... I feel that this prop puts me real close to where I should be with my stock application. However, tomorrow I am supposed to be trying a friends 26 Bravo 4 blade. I don't think that I can turn that prop with my motor, but I am always willing to try any prop that is a FREE trial...You never know.... If I can keep the same speed with less rpm, I will make the change.

fast enough; get rid of that mirage prop!! call tom at hydromotive engeering 330-425-4266 most of us check owners have found that his 4 blade prop works best on our hulls. your planing time and your handling will be greatly improved. i personally run a labbed 25 pitch 4 blade hydro on my 270 convincor with 500hp power.you will love it!!!!! bill:D

I have a 1.5 gear ratio in the drive. If you want some reference, I can give you some numbers from running a 26 Bravo 4 blade today. It may not be exactly what you need but it may give you an idea of what the next pitch up will do for you. Remember, I usually run a 24" Bravo 4 Blade.

Here goes:

I don't like to post actual speeds, because on this forum, it opens up a can of worms as to the accuracy of the speedo, g.p.s., radar or whatever else. So all I will give you the m.p.h./ r.p.m. increase or decrease that I saw. I will tell you that I used the same method of checking as I always have.

My top end was 5000 r.p.m. with the 24", with the 26" I could only pull to 4500 r.p.m. ( and it took longer to get there ) With that, I lost 3 mph of top end.

BUT, my cruise at 4000 r.p.m. with the 26", picked up about 5 m.p.h. !!!! I was real happy here.

I really didn't see a big difference from 3000 to 3500, so I will say maybe a slight increase in m.p.h. at that r.p.m.

It took a bit longer to get up on plane with the 26", but I felt it was still acceptable.

All in all, I was not happy with the 26". I will be talking to a few prop companys to get their input on a possible change for next season. Maybe if I have a 26" labbed it wouldn't fall enough as much on top end, and I could get a little better cruise speed. :confused:

checkmate454mag, was you 24" Bravo Prop ever reworked or labbed. I tried to get a hold of hydromotive today but it was busy all day. I am going to try again tomarow and see what they say. I am told my peak torque and HP for my engine is at 4400-4600 rpm so I dont want to run much more rpm. But if I do some mods to my PCM then maybe I should consider a 26" Hydro or Bravo.:confused: :confused: :confused:

Boys, bottom line more speed, more hp. more hp. more money. put on a pro-charger and be done with it.
