What happened to Checkmate?
 

Did the latest ownership group in Washington, NC go out of business ? They have no active website and their FB doesn’t look like updated in a long time.

Checkmate is turning into the new Apache.........new/old owners/splashed hulls!

It really is amazing how fragile the boat building industry really is. SO many have come and gone, some to be resurrected under another company with the same name. I like to collect old magazines and it's fun but also sad to browse through a rag like 'Hot Boat' from the mid-to-late 90's, and look at who was making boats then that aren't now.

and now that our wonderful Commander & Chief is trying to pass legislation to limit all power boats over 35' to 10 knots offshore to 100 miles, it's going to further destroy the offshore boat world!
