New Chief Scout in the Mold

What's the details? Is this the new fellow/soldier or a Chief version? Demo boat or customer? What power? Thanks for the pics

Panther 12-17-2013 09:14 AM

I don't know specifics yet but I think it might be going to a dealer. Outboard power I'm pretty sure. Bob Saccenti commented on the Defender/Chief relationship previously, see below;

I am working with Phil to get him started on his way into the marine powerboat business. These same molds are used to build the "Chief Edition Scout" for Chief Powerboats to complement our dealer line for name sake. I am personally overseeing Defender Powerboats in Phil’s absence. He was asked to return back to Afghanistan for a short stay and will be back before Christmas to continue working on his personal 21' Scout. I spoke to him this morning and he said all is well BUT the rocket and mortar attacks really annoy him while he is trying to do his job.

“God speed a safe return Phil”

I remember reading that one now, thanks. Can this boat be built for a single/sterndrive application?

Good question. I would assume anything is possible since some of the early Scouts, like mine, had I/O's. However, the later model Scouts were built for O/B's and early model Scouts had a different deck than this version with windshield and cockpit further forward to make room for the engine compartment.

Here are a few more new pics.

This is an early model Scout (my boat) and below that is the late model Scout with updated Deck. If you want one built with an I/O let me know and I can see what they can put together.

What is the size? Looks similar to a Cigarette 20. Great to see a smaller performance boat being built.

delsol 12-17-2013 10:17 PM

I had to look twice at your pic Panther---- at first glance it looked as though the Scout had twins lol

They Scouts are 21'.

blkmtrfan 12-19-2013 02:25 PM

Does this mean that they are selling hulls now?

Building boats and selling them. Most of the 21's will have outboard power. 200 Optimax will run the boat about 75.

Is there a dealer or direct?
Any pricing set yet?
Selling completely rigged, or can one get a bare hull?

I'd suggest giving Eddie a call. He is a US dealer.

No bare hulls, selling riggged. Custom ordred and finished to your specs and power of your choice. They have a dealer network. I'm one of them located at Lake of the Ozarks.

If I saw right you can get a bare hull from defender. Go to their web site it's on the main page.

21 sport (fiberglass -14,7??
21 race (Kevlar/carbon) - 16,7??

Gh700xx 05-15-2014 01:58 PM

that's cool not bad on pricing either for someone in the market for a boat that size range.

caseyh 05-15-2014 03:01 PM

Blank canvas for someone. Is there any race classes left that this hull could run?

The Offshore Powerboat Association (OPA) has a class for boats 17-22 feet. It's called "Class 7" and it's gaining momentum. Check out the Race Talk, Jersey Boyz section here on OSO or the OPA website...

That thing looks bad zzz just sitting their.

DPT MOTORSPORTS 01-11-2015 09:40 PM

What materials are being used for the stringers? Are there any race hulls in production as of yet?

Gh700xx 01-11-2015 09:57 PM

Wish they would build something bigger that you could get in a bare hull. They look like very quality pieces.

That 21 I have in stock is a race lay up, would you like to see the schedule?

DPT MOTORSPORTS 01-11-2015 11:23 PM

Sure if you do not mind posting the info. Thanks for the response. Are they still building boats or just to order currently?

Gh700xx 01-12-2015 12:42 AM

Yes and I hope to have some water test information on it very soon. Had a few delays with some changes and updates, but it's still available.
