Well after 24 years of just WISHING I had the Miami Vice Edition Stinger 390X, I finally broke down and bought one.
http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n202/ve3lt/mv3-1.jpg I also still have my old faithful 260...its just a toy compared to the 390X, but a bit easier on fuel! http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n202/ve3lt/ld3.jpg Its nice to have a choice on which one to go play with!:cool-smiley-026: |

I got her in Jan of this year. And this was in March in North Carolina. Oh and if you couldnt tell, I was and am a huge Miami Vice Fan!

Hey Mike good to meet you! I too am a fan of MV. Your boat looks in good shape?
What do you have in it for engines? Mine are not stock anymore as I have a pair of 420 mags, but its far better on gas than the original blown big blokcs it came with!!!:D |
Its good to meet you too. She is running the original 400 TRS's. And where she isnt great on gas she isnt that bad either. I guess at 4.30 a gallon it is just the cost of running one of these boats. And thanks the outside I think is in pretty good shape for her age. The uphostery needs some work. Just a little old and faded and cracked where the sun has gotten to her. She's a work in progress. :)

Amazing after 28 years the stuff stands the test of time I suppose? Sstock 400's...cool. Mine is not great on fuel either but it's fun! The price of having a good time I suppose? Mine has 420 mags with single carbs. it used to have originally twin 570's with 1171 blowers with dual quads. They were over a thousand horse each! I am glad I don't have those in there now as gas would be a killer![IMG]http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n202/ve3lt/Mv7h.jpg These are what runs it now...http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n202/ve3lt/Mv7k.jpg |
Yeah I would like to have my seats in the cockpit recovered and I need to have everything down below recovered as well. Its not torn but looks old. I will get to in time. I would love to go with bolsters like you have. I have a love seat bolster in mine now. Its ok but I like the look of the seperate bolsters more.
|
got a quck question. what size props are you running on your Stinger? I am thinking of changing mine.
|
Hi Mike.
Running Mercury Revolution 4 blade 14/1/2” x 19P Stainless. Screws turn an easy 52-5400 WOT but I usually just cruise at between 3-4000 to save gas. Still clips along quite nicely between 40-55mph approx. |
Thanks, I am running 3 blade 19P Mercury Mirage props and at 5000 RPM i'm running 54 on the GPS. Do you think going to 4 blade would be better or not worth the expense or trouble?
|
I think the four blades bite a little better and I get a bit more speed out of them for sure!
|
Ve3lt- Did you get your boat off of the west coast? Looks like the boat my friend used to own.
|
No Scottie I got it in CT off a guy named Todd who used to be on this board occasionally.
|
Prop Question
Thanks for the heads up, I might look into swapping my three blade for a four! Thanks again!

1988 Stinger 312
I am looking at a 2/3 owner '88 Stinger 312 with twin king cobra 460's(original) with omc outdrives (original) with about 550 hours and a triaxle trailer. Current owners are a middle age couple who have owned the boat ten years and have used a marina mechanic for maintenance. It's an almost all white model that looks pretty modern and seems to be in great shape. Any thoughts on the Fords or the OMCs? After my shipping costs I'm looking to spend about $12,000 total.

I have an 87 230 Scorpion. It's blue and white
|
Hey ve3lt. I'm in the Niagara area as well. Is your Stinger black? We go to Dalhousie quite a bit. I also used to see a red Stinger with Scorpion writing and a scorpion picture on it in Vineland. Haven't seen it around lately.
|
Mine is the Grey one with the red and black interior. It says"Scorpion" on the two sides of the boat.
I hang in Dalhousie but I am morred at Port Weller at the St.Catharines Marina. My 260 is for sale now because I have a 390X. You may have seen me as I am always driving the new 390X alot, as my 260 is on the trailer cleaned and ready to roll. I was playing with both boats back in May but decided to pull the 260 out of the water in June, clean it up, and not put any more hours on it for the sale. |
One you have never seen.

I thought some of you may like this, I picked it up a while ago.
334 Stinger Fittipaldi with twin 420's and TRS drives. Will do 70 (for now) no problem... to my knowledge there are about 6 of these in the states. I know most of them were shipped to Europe.. this exact boat was featured in a european magazine. also, they did come in other colors besides red... but not many were built. |

I have a 1986 210 Scorpion.
We bought the boat new in 1986. Sold it in 1999, and I bought it back in 2009. It seems to be a great boat, but not sure how many still exist. I am restoring the interior to the original colors, and hope to get it all done by the summer. Right now, I am trying to figure out the hinge on the cubby hatch. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, bob |
Hi fiat4.
I had a 210 many years ago. Great boat, but terrible drivetrain. I had an omc and hated it! I hope yours has a Merc!?! Good little starter boat for sure. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...t/boat1jpg.jpg My new Toys http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...3lt/MyToys.jpg |
Yep,
Mine is a Mercrusier with a Alpha one. Has about 500 hours on it. Looks like the picture is a 230? So, the last 230 I looked at had hull through exhaust, was that standard? Also, can you take some pictures of the the "hinge" for the plexi hatch? I have the plexi hatch, and part of the hinge is attached to the boat, but I have no idea how the plexi hatch part of the hinge works or looks like. Thanks, Bob |
Hi Bob.
The beige boat with the brown trim was my old 210. It's still around Niagara as I see it out on the water from time to time and I haven't owned it for a decade! The grey boat is not a 230 but a 260 with twins and thru-hull exhast. I still have both boats in the picture. I am keeping the 390x (forever!) but am selling the 260 presently. |
I've really enjoyed reading all of your posts on the Chris Craft Scorpion's
I own 2 of them one is a 1984 Scorpion 210 open bow and the other is a 1987 Scorpion 210 LTD open bow I LOVE both of them and they really turn heads on the trailer and in the water. I'm in the process of restoring the 87 LTD's interior. Both have 5.7 (350 Chevy) engines the Ltd has an OMC out drive and the 84 has a Mercruser. As far as I'm concerned it was the finest boat ever built and the ride on flat water or rough water is amazing even more stable than any bigger boat I’ve ever owned. My LTD when finished will have Thru hull exhaust and the motor has been rebuilt as a 425Hp performance engine with lots of chrome. I'll post some pics as soon as I can Again thanks for all the info I’ve picked up here |
