ANYONE EVER PUT A PAIR OF 383's IN A 260 STINGER .WHAT KIND OF SPEED CAN I EXPECT?

Re: Stinger 260

Do you mean Mopar 383 mags, or cranked chevy small blocks?

ENGINESPLUS 10-16-2005 08:52 AM

Re: Stinger 260

Small Block Strokers
Sorry About That

Ok... since nobody else will take this one....

All things being equal I would expect 65mph.

Re: Stinger 260

These 383's Should Have About 490 To 500 Lbs Of Torque And About 470 Hp.

do you plan on swaping the Alphas to bravos?

Yes I Think That Is A Must

Re: Stinger 260

My trailer manufacture has a 260 w/ 383's pushing around 500 h/p ea and he gets mid 80's so he said. No K-tabs either.

In my opinion 383's are the ONLY way to go if your sticking with v8's for power.

I've decided to go with one Lycoming T53 turbine going thru a custom gearbox to run two TRS's for my 260. 1400 h/p 1/2 the weight. Hmmmmm

yep :D . . the turbine would be a pretty good way to go. god knows there is enough room. i love the size of the engine compartment in my 260.

mid 80's with no tabs  not sure i'd wanna go that fast in mine. i mean its a great boat but the hull is a bit speed limited. mine porpoises like a bee-ahch when i get it trimmed to the moon. best i've seen with my warmed up 350's is 60.9 if i was keeping this boat i would probably toss on a set of Vortech heads and go from there. great boats, cant say enough about mine. yours is going to be awsome with bravos and strokers

All black would make for a hot boat on a 90% day.

Did You Find It Hot When It Was Black?

Re: Stinger 260

I bought the boar in september and started right away to strip it. So I did not have the chance to see under big sun what it would be like. But I remember when I was young and my father had a brown metallic Glastron... I remember burning my arms on the top side of the boat, so my guess is black, you'll be cooking!

What Do You Think I Was Fooling Around With Paint Shop On The P.c. BEFORE AND AFTER THIS IS MY WINTER PROJECT.

Re: Stinger 260

I did exactly the same! But finally wanted contast colors to catch eyes... and also because once I almost got involved in a night accident, they never saw me... So now, the name of the boat is made out of reflective red vynil, just like the cops!

heres my before and afters. i tell ya what, i cant say enough about the 260 scorpions. this is the best boat i have ever owned. VERY big for 26 footer, runs like a top and handels ruff water confidently . gonna hate to see this thing go.

ENGINESPLUS keep in mind the darker color will make the boat look smaller.

Re: Stinger 260

yeah we don't have much horsepower, but as you said we're running trouble free... actually just running is better fun than towing...

Can Anyone Tell Me Where The Fresh Water Tank Was Located On A 1985 260.
I Have A Hand Pump On The Sink And When I Took The Interior Out Of The Cabin I Found The Lines From The Pump Don't Go Anywhere And The One From The Filler Goes Under The Sink.
Thanks
James

mines an 85 and its located under the sink cabinet. does yours have the same base as this?

ENGINESPLUS 11-14-2005 03:32 PM

Re: Stinger 260

Yes It Is The Same. What Is The Tank Made From And How Big Is It?
Thanks

glassdave 11-14-2005 05:08 PM

Re: Stinger 260

i will see if i can get some measurements tomorrow. it is a polyethylene tank (i think) its kind of an opaque white-ish material. it takes up most of the inside of the leg part of the cabinet that sticks out from the left side of the sink basin. the rest is storage (behind the sliding door)

I Don't Think This Boat Ever Had A Tank The Line From The Sink Was Tied To The Fill Line Behind The Upholstery

Re: Stinger 260

i dont actually use any of the stuff like the sink or the head and i spend ALOT of time on my boat. seems like theres always plenty of facilities wherever i go. i carry bottled water and the soft side coolers i have seem to hold ice for the whole weekend. i took the frige out now its a real nice storage place there. once in a while i will ice down beers in the sink :drink:.

No fridge in mine either.
Don't need it.

Makes a better closet.

Don't use the freshwater tank, but it is still in there.

Taking the fridge out sounds like a good idea - for those of you who did it, how did you make a storage area out of it? Do you have any pictures?

I Just Got This Boat I Can't Put It In The Water Because The Drives Are Apart.
Can Anyone Help Me With Some Pictures And Measurements For The Water Lines?
We Are Pulling The Old Engines Today And We Will Be Starting To Prep For Paint Next Week.

once the fridge is out you really dont need to do anything else but a little carpet to tidy it up a bit. i didnt see any reason to put a door or anything on it because thats where i keep things like fenders and safety stuff, things i use often.

I DON'T HAVE A FRIDGE IN MY 260 AND THERE IS A DOOR ON THE CLOSET THAT LOOKS FACTORY. IT IS MADE OF THE SAME MATERIAL AND EDGING AS THE COUNTER TOP.
WAS THE FRIDGE AN OPTION ?

THANKS

glassdave 12-06-2005 04:23 PM

Re: Stinger 260

not sure what kind they are. i got them in a trade and i was putting silent choice on my boat so i tossed them in at the same time. not sure if they helped the performance but the look cool :D

Has anyone done a transom on a 260 yet?
I can't believe how much glass is in this boat the transom is about 7/8 of an inch thick. Are yours the same?

Re: Stinger 260

yea . . they were built pretty heavy. if theres ever a nuclear bomb threat i am going to hide in my boat :D :D
