312 Stinger!! What to look for when purchasing???
 

I'm about to buy a 312 stinger yet before I purchase I'd like to know what to look for negative wise. The boat's a 85' w/ trs drives.

Was there a such thing as 400hp mercs in 85? Sorry for being niave. I just keep buying older and older boats with limited knowledge.

I am pretty sure the choice was 330's Maybe 420's as an option.
I have a friend selling a 312 with 502's in Ohio look in classifieds,boat runs just over 70 gps.

I had a -89 312 Stinger (rised deck)
Loved how the boat handle big water. But take a major lock
att the stringers/bulkheads. Before I sold my boat I had a the bulkheads in engineroom replaced..... a h*ll of a job.
And take a look at the transom (inner).

Try to get one newer with 454 or 502MPI's. I had my 330's replaced for 502'mpi's

Well..... just bought it. Sight unseen. Had a buddy of mine check it out for me. Went over everything! Said he was impressed with the condition for its age. Know anyone who wants a 245??
