Teak deck in 260 Cockpit

While cruising the internet, I noticed pictures of 260 Stingers that show in the middle of the cockpit wood boards or teak boards on the floor. On my 260 which I bought last year, the previous owner had placed carpeting over the boards. The boards started to get spongy, so I removed the carpeting and found that the boards are untreated wood. I was going to replace the boards with whatever came with the boat originally, I assume teak? Was wondering what you owners have in that area, teak, treated wood, etc? Also I measured the thickness of the boards and it seems to be about 3/4" thick - is this correct? Has anybody replaced these boards on their boat? If so, is there any support underneath the boards or are they just supported at the ends? Any help is appreciated!

Yes.There is support that comes from an recesed frame that is on the underside of the boards an is a tight fit to the hole over your gas tank. Mine are the original teak, and oiled they look great and much easeer to clean.

Mine was originally teak also. It is 3/4" thick. It appeared to made of tongue and groove boards. Mine was cracked at the end and that made it spongy. The underside of mine had another peice of 3/4" wood added to the bottom for strength. Not sure If that was original or not. I took it out and temporarily replaced it with 3/4" veneer plywood. I stained it to match the teak until this winter when I redo the whole interior. I still have the original peice laying in the back of my truck. If you want, I could email you a picture of it. Dan

Yes, if you could send a picture that would be great - would help me a lot to repair this item.
