Chris Craft Stinger dash panels

3 Attachment(s)
Hello,

Does anyone know where I might find the light panel which is to the left of the helm on the Stinger 390 which shows an overhead picture (outline) of the boat, and has little red lights to indicate whan a system or light is on or off? I'm not sure if they are even available anywhere, but I have heard rumors that someone still has the patterns for them and makes them if needed. I'm just not sure who.

See attached photo for what I'm talking about. Part is to the left of the gauges and screws to the top of the dashboard.

Any help in locating this part is appreciated.

Todd

Hey Todd-Check some of the other threads in the CC forum. I read a couple posts where guys were saying those were some of the first parts they removed. Maybe you'll luck out and find someone who has one they'll give up. I'm trying to work out a deal with jeff32 for his old fiberglass swim platform he removed from his stinger. PO removed the one from mine and put on a teak one.

Thanks,

I have looked around in the forum a bit before asking, and found nothing. Maybe my search criteria was off. I tried dash, electrical, panel, lighting, light, dashboard etc. No hits would answer my questions. Any specific articles that you can remember about people removing this light panel?

Thanks

It seems like I was reading in a different forum when I came across it. I've been reading through lots of stuff to find the little tidbits that will help me when I dig in to my boat in the next month or so. If I run across it again I'll definitely send you the post. Meanwhile, I have a friend that does the "engraving" for industrial electrical panel switch layouts out of the same type stuff that you see all those exec. name tags on doors. I'll ask him if that panel might be up his alley and what kind of dough he'd have to have for one. If it's reasonable maybe he'll have to do two of 'em and I'll freshen mine up when I go over other things.

I'll get mine done also, so cout me in on the dash engraving. Mine is realy faded. There are some other stingers around me that would like this also.

How similar are the panels? If they're all the same that would be a killer deal (minimize set-up fees)! I'll be seeing Allen tonight so I'll get a pic ot two of my panel and check with him to get a ballpark$$$$. If we use standard-type materials for these things, that stuff comes in a gazillion different colors and patterns, although I'm not sure what all he has access to. I'll find out more tonight definitely!

Hey guys-can you email your pictures to me directly at [email protected] ? I hate to admit it but I'm not a payin' member yet. I need to forward them to my guy to see if they're do-able. He said the one like in my old '83 260 is no problem, but pricey if there is only one...200-300 bucks! It is possible that he might be able to save individual "elements" of the panels so he can transfer to the other designs/sizes which may be some savings if there are multiple panels but different types. Obviously the more of each kind, the more the programming gets spread out and overall cost drops, but I have no idea how much. I looked through my saved pics of other stingers and there are quite a few different versions. If anyone else has one they want done, send me a pic and I'll see what we end up with and get some firm prices.

Well, it's not really that important to me. Mine is a little faded and rough in spots due to the p.o. drilling holes and mounting electronics there, but $300..in my mind thats nearly 100 gal of gas for a little light panel. (thats still a sickening thought) I think I'll stick with the one I have unless someone has a used one. I understand the costs of tooling/setup etc for new parts, but to me, I really dont need a new one.

I also think the panels are different for each model. I have seen several 390's alone with different light panel fixtures depending on the year of the boat. Some had switches above the boat diagram, some had outdated navigational / rules of the road instructions printed around the outline of the boat. I guess if you have seen 1, you have seen 1.

If anyone has one of these panels used that they have removed, I would be interested.

That was really my whole point in asking for pictures of different ones. Being on a relatively tight boating budget myself, I'd also rather spend that kind of dough on fuel and enjoying my boat, but, having been in the mfg/machining business myself for the last 25yrs, I figured that if I showed him that the elements in these things were all basically the same save for placement of some of the lines of text or switches versus no switches, etc., and if there were 6-8 or more of them to do I might be able to get him in the 50-60 buck range, or maybe less if there were more of them to do. Knowing roughly what kind of material cost is involved and having seen these types of machines run before, that's about the kind of price I would expect if the initial front end work was spread out over several pieces. So who knows, maybe I can convince him that it would be a good business move to eat the set-up on the chance that there would be enough interest in it to recoup it in volume. That's why it would be good to have an idea of what to expect as far as interest level. Doing one of anything is never cheap. Heck, if my old cnc mill had an engraving program in it, I'd do them myself on the prospect of future business, but it would take so many lines of code in mine, the thing would have smoke rollin' out of it before I had the first line of switches labeled:eek: I'm still going to have him work up some kind of ballpark pricing on multiples. I've also got him getting me some books together with material patterns in it. If it ever becomes a viable project, I may have the shifter side with the Stinger logo redone too, and maybe add facing to the gage panels to match as well. If there is any interest out there, send me a good digital pic of yours, preferably with a ruler next to it for scale and I'll keep working on him. It doesn't cost anything to ask.

Hello all...
I am new here and a proud owner of an 87 Stinger 260.:D I was working on the boat today after picking it up the day before, and noticed the dash panel to the left of the gauges (the one with the red lights around the boat outline) is very sun drenched and faded. It is difficult to read and make out the outline of the boat.
Does anyone have a good digital picutre of what that looks like so I can restore it, or are they available anywhere to replace?
That's about the only thing wrong with my boat??? Any help from the experts would be appreciated.
Thanks ... Tom in Ontario.
