Where is fuel gauge sender for Stinger 260

Hi, does anybody know where this is on the tank / how to get to it? My fuel gauge reads low then high and now is staying on high and now I've no idea how much fuel is in there (hopefully high reading is correct though :-) . Do these senders fail much? - if so do they usually read hiugher tha they should or lower? Also are they a standard part? It's a 1989 Stinger 260.

Thanks!
Andrew

its right under the wood floor panel. kind of a pain to pull it up but thats how ya get to it. they are pretty simple, up grade it to the Lavorsi tube style if you can.

I replaced mine last year. I went online and bought it and it came in aprox. a week later. My boat is a 88 and it has a small access door ( circle ) above the tank and all I had to do was take the two screws out of the top that held the small plastic guage on and replace that portion only ( + 2 wires ). The way it works is it is a dual purpouse guage ( mechanical/sender ) the mechanical portion works off a magnet in the acctual guage itself which moves the indicater needle which in turns runs the sender portion across a resistor thru low voltage to your guage on the dash. You do not have to pull the entire guage from the tank and be careful not to strip the small screws that hold the plastic piece on like I did, which wasn't a big deal because it doesn't hold alot of weight on. I'll try to come up with the part # and web site for ya
