Met the best and the worst of boaters yesterday

Took a bud for a ride in the stinger yeaterday. Really opened it up, we were hauling azz!

Well, after we got back to the cove, we noticed the sunpad was missing.....It had blown off somewhere along our high speed run! After we spent a bunch of time searching, we gave up on ever finding it again. Well, on our way back to the cove again, a guy in an older bass boat with his two kids waved us down. He had found and picked up the sunpad! Wow, that was the highlight of the day, to be sure. It was really nice of him to go to the trouble, and we sure did thank him.

Later in the day, we ended up staying out in the cove a little past sunset, and dusk was rapidly coming to an end. I know my boat is really loud, and I felt terrible pulling into the slip. There is a long no wake area in the marina, so we had to idle in over about a 5 minute period. Unfortunately, there were some people complaining their azzez off when we shut the engines down.... One guy actually had the nerve to come over and read us the riot act about noise laws, etc. What a jerk. He got a little nicer when I stepped out of the boat. Must have been the 18 inch height difference or something. I told him to go back to his own business, and not to come back until he had a badge. What a tool. :chill-pill:

Oh well, at least I haven't bought a slip there with the squares....and I don't plan to now.

Thanks for letting me vent!

Greg

As far as the exhaust, most boats with thru-hull are within noise limits, unless you have a dry exhaust or a real hairy engine, I doubt you broke any noise laws, tell him to go F himself, he is most likely a blow boater.

I have respect for noise but come on, I have a ton of older people in my marina and most give me a thumbs up when I come in , I also roll in every Sat around 2:00 am and never got a complaint!

Noise laws, I say what noise laws? I had a guy give me a hard time about supposed noise laws on Lake Gaston NC. Turns out he was talking out his azz since the law was for homes and business making noise from land, didn't even apply to boats on water.

I agree get a badge and come back or get out a my face.

Next there will be speed limits.

We actually have them on Lake Erie, I cannot rember what DB it is but we have them, not really enforced unless you give them a reason.

Glad you found your pad. I lost mine four weeks ago in some rough water and never did find it. I took my one left one to my upholstry guy and told him to make two new ones but this time with 5 inch foam instead of four inch. The new ones are even better ...
and oh yes, I put extra strips of velcro on both new ones so I would never loose one again.

That was 400 bucks that I didn't need to spend this summer!:D

oh, and as for the exhaust, tell him to go f**k himself. I have thru-hulls and there are some cruisers with big blocks that make more noise than I do (I am so jealous!!!) That is a totally different class of boat!!!

Be loud.....be proud. Your NOT a Harley...............:angry-smiley-055:

"Be loud, be proud"

I like it!

Damn noisey lake trash on their cruisers !

the guy obviously was way too in touch with his feminine side. If he were a man he'd welcome loudness. I like standing on the swim platform sometimes just to hear the music, kinda gives me a chubby just thinking about it. :evilb:

He may own a sail boat and wear his cute little captains hat and smokes a pipe. Yea that's boating alright.....
NO THANKS, NOT FOR ME!!!!
