Chris Craft or Grew????
Purchased 26' Stinger over winter. Trying to track some history on these boats. My Hull I/D starts with ZGR which when checked comes back to Grew Canada not Chris Craft.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. |
ChrisCraft by Grew. They built tons of then in Penatanguishine Ontario. They built the 230 and the 260. Check it really close for wet wood. a very common problem.

Try the Mariners Museum at the following adr:
http://www.mariner.org/library/chriscraft/index.php They bought up all the Chris Craft documentation back when Murray threw in the towel. They have historical info an all hulls built for about a hundred years of so! They had all the info on my boats. It costs about 25-30 bucks or so but it is definitely worth it. |
Chris craft or Grew
Thanks for the replies, boat has been surveyed and moisture metered, A-1, guess they built them better in Canada.

I had a number of Chris Crafts over a number of the last years.
I had an old Scorpion 210. Great boat and yes it was a Grew hull. The only bad thing was it had an OMC and I was not fond of that drive. Had lots of fun with the boat though (when the drive was not breaking down) and tough as nails in the waves. It was a 1982 but solid as a rock and never been bottom coated. Stil had original gell coat finish on it! I sold it about five years ago but I still see it ato our local marina here every season. It's been re-upholstered and looks fine... Grew made some amazing hulls in their day. |
