Stinger 260
 

I just bought a 1985 Stinger 260. It has some work done: it's being converted from inboard to 2 150 Yamaha outboard as you can see in the picture. The last owner change the floor, but he use regural wood and now it's rotten and it got termites, a real nightmare. I will have to change the transom and the floor. I'm a newbie and I want some advises, like the new floor, should be made entire from fiberglass or a sandwich with some wood (maybe marine panels)??
What about the engines?? I have read that this boats come with 2 300 hp engines, now mine have 2 150, I know they are lighter, but would they be enought??
Do you think it will be better to sell it??

And general toughts about the boat.

That's a very nice boat. I personally do not think much about the outboards but if that is what works for you then ok? (no insult intended)
My 260 has the 350's with alpha ones and I run a 19x23 set of props. I get about 57 mph out of it at around 4600-4700rpm approximately.

I wonder if you could comment on what your doing with the outboards?

I suppose that you would have lots more room in there with no engines and storage would be awesome, but are you getting the speeds you desire? Lets see some pics of the interior...

What is the fuel consumption on those outboards?

Being a bit leary, I would expect inboards to have better power output and fuel consumption per hp but your stats would be interesting to compare?!?!

you probably won't see your money back from floor and transom repair. so if you are going to keep it, fix it! if you already plan to sell it, try to sell as is...

I'm getting around 48 mph on myoutboards with a 14x17 set of props. I'll take a few pictures of the interiors today a see if I can post it tomorrow.

Very nice, my 260 was a great boat. Lots of room for a 26 footer and handeled rough water pretty good for its size. I use to stay every weekend on that boat in the summer and it was very comfortable. Fantastic boat for the money!
