Hey folks... late in the season but I'm just about ready to splash the Stinger. I'm trying to figure out some stuff though:

1. Location/mounting point of the trim/tilt motor and bracket.

2. Location/mounting point of the Bennett trim tab pump and wiring.

When I got the boat, it had been sitting for years without the engine in it. The previous owner and I cannot figure out where these went.

If anyone could post up some pics, I'd greatly appreciate it!

On my 222 i'm going to mount them on the transom on each side of the transom plate...i have no idea where they were orrigianly cause mine was stripped when i bought it...

Hey Wally! Still working on the LT1 swap?

I figured that's where I'm going to mount my pumps. I already moved the Merc trim pump to the port compartment. I haven't mounted it yet because I might need to replace the motor (or at least rebuild it). It does seem to fit nicely in there though! The Bennett pump will probably go in on the starboard side depending on fitment. I think it used to sit in the center compartment in front of the engine.

I got the 383 running the other night. I had some fuel issues, but once they were covered, she fired right up! I even had the timing pretty much dialed in (I guess I've pulled the distributor enough times on these things to know where it's supposed to be!).

No i gave up on it...got as far as stripping the whole engine down to a stand alone unit and having the computer re-flashed.....then the cooling issues stood in my way....The LT1's use a reverse cooling system...and it would force me to make a custom closed cooling system i just didnt want to invest in having made! So its back to a carb motor or an EFI Merc engine if i can find one for a reasonable price :)

I thought the LT1 project was going to be a tough one, but I was looking forward to seeing it come together. The cooling and ignition was what I thought would be the toughest.

Hopefully, you can get it going soon! Our Stingers are becoming quite scarce.

I'm really hoping to be on the water this weekend, though the weather right now doesn't seem like it's going to cooperate (and my house is trashed because of a new kitchen floor install... might have more house stuff to do). I just need to finish up the the trim pump (the Bennett can wait) as well as some minor rigging. And I think I might have a power steering leak. But I'm determined so we'll see. The new 383 sounds incredible and should really run as well as turn heads at the dock!

The ign wasnt that big a deal...i know the Opti-junk dont like water but they make coil conversion kits for it so you could have 4 coils each feeding 2cyl's at a time and computer controlled...the cooling i have seen done by Mastercraft but i got no where with them as far as giving any info on the setup....the local dealer was of no help either...and i was willing to buy what i needed but no one could pull up any schematics on how its setup :( ....i the project continues...painfully slow as i too have plenty of house related things i need to get done before the "better half" will not frown on me working on the toys! :D
