I have a friend with a 41 Apache with 850's and number 3's he hits 84 gps, that is a similar hull weight, but I am pretty sure the Apache is a tad more efficient. |
I tend to agree. My friend has a 40' Profile and it has a pair of blown 750's. It does 85 on the GPS and we were one of the slowest boats at the Thousand Island Poker Run.
Those guys with 100mph boats spents mega bucks! Yikes!!! Number six drives with thousand hp blocks etc. The 390 and 412's as stated are deep V and should REALISTICALLY only do about 70 with extra power and a simple 55-60 mph stock. Remember your pushing four tons plus though the water. My stock 390X with 420's does a respectable 57mph at WOT. It drinks gas so I can cruise quite comfortably at 30-35 all day long on two barrels instead of four. With the price of fuel how much testosterone do you need to show? Good luck with getting some more speed but I hope you have a deep wallett? Speed = money I have had offers from my friend to put his engines in my boat so he can go get a pair of 1100 for his, so he can hit the 100mph mark. Quite frankly I am happy with the maintenance free stock engines. No blower drive belts to throw, no carbs to set up, no dry sumping the blocks at high speeds. Thanks but I will stay stock..............My boat still gets the girls just the way it is. |
Wrong, Mine runs 38 mph at 2200 rpm and gets great gas mileage. Big Power Rules, Its the American Way

My 82 Excalibur 40 runs 82 mph with 700HP on IMCO's with boxes. Runs 50 at 3600. The boats will run okay, you have to lighten them up a bit. Mine weighs 10,500 empty.
Its quick enough to stay ahead of the Baja's in the local poker run, I realize thats not saying much. |
