88 Fittipaldi Stinger
I'm new to this forum. Looks like a lot of great info from you guys. I have a question, do any of you know of a Fittipaldi stinger for sale in PA ?. I think it's Lakeside Marina. Says it has reconditioned 454's. It's being listed for 22.5K, looks like it's in pretty good shape. I was going to go see it since I only live about an hour from there. Thanks..

A 312 Stinger fittipaldi is a great boat !!!!
I don't know that one ! But they are great boats !:ernaehrung004: |
Strange...I NEVER heard of a 312 Fitipaldi???
I was under the impression the Fitipaldi was only in a 42 foot version and only made three years 88-91? I also believe they only came in red??? Boy if you get that boat...that would be something special for sure! Good luck and I hope you find it for sure. |
They made 10 Fittipaldi 312 .
I know of 2 in germany and yes they original are red. FERRARI FIRE RED !!!!!!!!! Had a Ferrari emblem on it as well !! The only thing i did not like was the radar arch but it was easy to remove !! They came with Merc Bulldog 540's and TRS drives and white interior !! :ernaehrung004: |
Any pics or a website?
|
No ,,,i am sorry but maybe in the german OSO.
Offshoreonly.de !!! |
I think they made more than 10 in 88. And all the ones I've seen had 454's or 502's in them. There is still one in Maryland that looks good on line. Askin price was 36k. Looked at one here in town a while back, plus the one at Lakeside. That boat has been there a while. Not many around though thats for sure, be a croud pleaser in good shape.

I am pretty sure they made more than 10- I have seen at least 3 around here. Mel Gibson made that boat famous in Tequila Sunrise:food-smiley-007:

Bought the Fittipaldi
Hi all. Just wanted to intro myself and let you know that I bought the Fittipaldi from Lakeside and had it delivered last week. My plans are to go through it an give it a full resto. This will be my first boat resto and I have a lot of learning to do for sure. I was very glad to get this boat as I have wanted one since seeing the movie Tequilla Sunrise.

Wasn't there one at Londontowne Marina in MD not too long ago?
|
Good luck on the rebuild. The closer to original the better, man that will be sweet ride and a croud plezer.:cool-smiley-011:

Any sources for an original or reprint brochure and owners manual?
|
You'll probably need an electronic copy of the Mercuiser Manual first and foremost. If you'd like, I'll burn a copy of mine to CD and put it in the mail for you?
I just obtained a mint 1987 Chris Craft Range Brochure but unfortunately it doesn't have the Fittipaldi Stinger for 1988. I think they were a specially advertised and ordered through dealers job anyway. I don't know if these boats actually came with an owners manual. I think mine probably came with a peice of paper that said, "Park boat near water, remove wallet from pocket, empty contents onto ground and burn." Good luck mate, be sure to post some pics when you get the chance, we all live vicariously through one anothers adventures in nautical expense on here! :coolcowboy: John. |
Hey Ghostrider, that would be awesome to get that Mercruiser manual and very nice of you to offer it! Way too true about the wallet and burning money thing, too! The boat is currently up on blocks in a field down from my home (wife doesn't know I bought it). The motors are new with only 2 hours on them and one of the Bravo OD's is new but I wanted to kinda go over it all before throwing it in the lake. I am going to port it on Lake Ontario when it is done and will post some "before" pics soon. It is in pretty decent shape overall but does have some scars and stress cracks. I need to decide whether to paint it or try to restore the gelcoat.

Send me a PM or email me at jkronayne 'at' bigpond 'dot' com with your mailing address and I'll send a copy up to you. That part about the wife not knowing made me laugh! I told my wife that part and she said if I had tried that, she would have killed me! You should have seen the look on her face when I brought mine home! I took pictures of her and the boat! She wasn't happy! This whole spending thing never really ends does it?!? |
Been away for a while, been gettin into som outboards. Houz the rebuild comin?
|
Any update on the progess of this boat?
|
I just threw up a thread on basically this same boat but with 502's.... Supposedly the only one built with 502's and its going for 21K on CL....
|
The Fittipaldi Edition is a 312 Stinger released in 1988. T- OMC was standard or optional was T- Merc 330 or 365 with Bravo!! In 89 CC reintroduced The Fittipaldi Edition in a 334 Stinger which replaced the 312 and was a smaller version(replica) of the 375/385 Stinger introduced in 88 and 89 all with several engine options but OMC being standard due to CC filing bankruptcy in 87 and losing their contract with Merc as being standard😩Not sure how many 334 were built(more less Fittipaldi Edition in this version except for the brochure one)Im assuming few for I have never seen one and unfortunately CC was very limited on Stinger production in 89for it was the last yr for The Stinger series and it was a preorder/prepay to get one! The end of a great classic and era of powerboat!!😢
