2 X 454 Magnums in a 260 Stinger ?
Hi from Belgium,Just bought my 87 Stinger 260 in the US with 2 so called new...260 mercruiser and reman. Alpha 1 drives.
On arriving here it turns out that the Port engine is seized due to bad exhaust manifolds a,d Stb eingine is indeed looking reman, but is only a 305 ci..Drives are ok(I think) So as I have not payed to much for the boat and the rest is ok,I am planning on repowering the boat.I Have the opportunity to buy 2 FWC 454 Magnum engines with Bravo 1 Drives Has anybody ever put 2 BB'sin a 260 Stringer?? What to expect? Any comments or suggestions would be very helpfull. Better to buy 2 SBL with the Alphas or go ahaid withe the 2 BBL and Bravos Thanks Roland |
how about hopping up a couple of small blocks and using the bravo drives???

Hi Stinger 312,problem is guy wont sell drives alone,Magnums are looking realy nice ,fwc, nice exh. manifolds, all complete ready for drop in.

Considering the 260 Stimger is big and heavy for its size I think it would be a good setup. Th extra torque of the big blocks would make the boat a lot more usable.
|
only hope the extra weight wont put the rear of the boat to low
|
Anybody ever done this conversion? If I am the first......... in all those years sure would like to know,if so would keep you all posted
|
What about engine centerline? would they be too close with BBC? stringers were desined for SBC...
|
Roland,
Go with 1 bigblock. One late 502MPI/415hp or one 496HO/425hp will make your boating life much more easier and a lot more fun. And dont forget to put an newer Bravo 1 drive in the middle. Good luck. Mange |
search on here someone already asked for this... the only issue was I think the width of the 2 big block...
I had one with twin 350 and would not think a single 502 or 496 would be enough... |
Thanks guys for replys,so it seems to me that nobody ever did this change.i couldn find a topic about this.
I think I wil buy 2 Reman 320 hp long blocks ,GLS aluminium exhaust risers, stay with the Alphas put everything together, and boat on. Roland |
