Gas Tank Replacement
Hi, I have a question and would appreciate any help.
Its a 1986 26 foot stinger. Purchased in Honey Harbour, Ontario. The boat is in exceptional shape with under 200 hours. Basically it was used for a few weeks a year when the Marina owner was in town.......Issue, the GAS TANK has a leak. I have found the orignal manuafactuer in Woodstock Ontario who made the tank (new name, same people). So how does this tank come out. Here is what we can figure out (with the least amount of damage). Remove engines, stringer behind the tank, center stringer....using a hand saw, cut the fill neck and overflow neck flush with the top of the tank....cut the seat out from the engine side so no damage to the cabin area is see and out she comes..... The new tank will have to be designed 2-3/4" lower thus a 9% loss in fuel volume. Any comment etc please?? Thanks, Dino |
