Re: 41ft Cigarette???
They are still around, in fact I have one. 55 mph is about right. This is my first performance type boat. I know its not a 100mph boat but my other boat is a 38000lb steel tug(max speed 10mph)http://www.boatnerd.com/pictures/spe...06-19-04mn.jpg, so just being on plane is a big improvement. I got it back in 1997 and have steadily become more familiar the the boat and mechanics primarily because of OSO. So here is a little from what I have learned over the years. I believe they were built from 1981 to 1986. Originally powered with cat 3208T(350hp) and an out drive similiar to a #3. Problem was at 18000lbs and all the torque the drives were a problem. Over the years they upgraded the drives to Arnesons and bumped up the Cats to 3208TA(375hp). IMO 41 has more in common with the Magnums and Carys. Generator, A/C, hot and cold running water. Enclosed head/shower, TV, microwave and such. To be honest I never use any of that stuff. I just like to run the boat when time permits. I will say the economy of diesels make allot of sense lately. Cruise is 42-45mph burning 17-19gph per side. Not too shabby for dragging around a studio apartment. If memory serves, I believe the factory said a total of 26 were made during this time. I could be wrong and welcome any corrections.
I'm kinda embarrassed to disclose that when I first started looking for a gofast to knock around in I didn't know the difference between a Wellcraft Excalibur(sorry I had to pick the name of a similar boat I looked at)and a Cigarette with Cats Arnesons and Rolla wheels. Better lucky than good. I love the boat. I would be interested in the asking price for the other 41 that was for sale. So few get sold it's hard to get and idea what the general value is. |
Re: 41ft Cigarette???
Holy crap I just got a link to post through of the tug. never been able to do that. Now I need to get a scanner for a couple of the Cig pics.

The asking price is correct. I never heard what it went for. :drink: |
Re: 41ft Cigarette???
Thanks for the numbers. Not trying to shift the thread. I have always been interesed in the 35OS w/diesels. I have only seen 1 pic in a Cig book I mistakenly loaned a friend 5 years ago. I memory serves, it looked the same beam as the 41 and I believe they had Cats as well. In the pic it looked awsome. But I have never seen one come on the market.

I have always liked the lines of the 41.
GLH: This isn't the one you're talking about is it? They only made less than a handful of these (called a 41 Attack?) and I think I read in one of Craig Barrie's posts that the CG was off and it would "bob" around in water. There is a 41 that is for sale in Texas that they guy is just about completley refinishing. A couple of pics attached. I think he is asking around $90K for it. |

Hey buddy, haven't talked to you in a while. I have the original sales info and brochures from Cigarette in the early 80's. PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you PDF files of the info. Cool, cool, did I say freakin' cool boats! A little weird with the 3208 Cat Diesels and #3 SSM drives, but I think they are gorgeous.

Sorry guys, I meant to post these a long time ago; but both good and bad things in life have kept me very busy.
