Here's another one I've never seen, Anyone know the info on this one?

I pulled this from a BIO-KLEEN press release:

"The boat that will be seeing all the action is a 35’ Café Cigarette with twin 572 cubic inch Sterling Engines at 700 horsepower a piece and Mercury XR drives. It includes Mike
Livorsi original Gaffrig Precision gauges, bolsters and interior by McLeod Design and a slick design and paintjob from The Art of Design."

I thought I saw restoration picture somewhere but I could be mistaken.

Good find!

I think it would have been nice for Cigarette to bring back one of the names Cafe Racer or Bullit instead of calling the 39 a Top Gun. I also would have stuck closer to the classic look of the 38 and not made it look so much like the 39. I love the classic 38 design, but I'm old I guess.

Sick Stinger 04-27-2010 04:43 PM

What was the point of a 38 TG and a 39TG why build both 1 foot differance?

I don't know Mike, but they should have left the real Top Gun alone.

Agreeded. Id like to see a new Cafe of Bullet. I dont think they are hitting the low to mid 30 market as they dont have any right now or for a while.

The 39 was built to allow for a staggered motor configuration with out giving up cockpit space.

Every time in recent history Cig has tried to re-claim the poplulatity of the Cafe, it falls short. 30-35 market has just not sold well for Cig in the past 15 years.

302Sport 04-27-2010 08:06 PM

theres a lot of builders out there right now that will build a 30-35ft boat with 525's for mid $200K's, so unless cigarette is willing to do that, I dont think it would be worth even trying to get into that market.

The 39 provides a stagger arrangement which i'm sure eats into some of the cockpit & cabin room that a 38 has. The 38 molds paid for themselves many times over, so why junk them. They can offer customers two "different" boats at basically not much of a cost difference.

Cigarette tried making another 30' boat called the Vice. I think they stopped producing it after maybe two years because i thought i read they said it cost the same amount or very near same money as the Top Gun, so not much a demand. If a 30' cost them that much to produce, i'm sure a 35/36 would be same issue.

CIG3 04-28-2010 01:17 PM

Unfortunately Cigarette is a high end builder who doen not really caer about a triered (Entry Level, Middle, High) customer base. They could build the boats cheaper if they wanted to but it not part of their business model.

The Vice was a bust at best, poor handling because of the step placement and way over priced.

All the money they have put into the other models and configurations could have ben better spent improving on the the 35,38,42,46 models they had.

My opinion is that all the pretty colors and bells and whistles aren't worth anything without a good base.

302Sport 04-28-2010 02:34 PM

exactely, its just not their thing. you wouldnt ask your roofer to pour your foundation would u???????????????????

Agreed - and I can only assume with the VICE the margins were horrible, considering it costs them "about" the same thing to build as a TG, yet it sold for 6 figures less. I wouldn't build it either.

nkosi 05-04-2010 02:02 PM

There are two cafe's in the BVI. I think #43 is one...didn't see the other one list. Sorry...no pix.

My father has pics somewhere of hull#1 when it was brand new. I'll have to find them and post them up.

Looks great! I don't envy the towing bullsh!t in Europe though, what a PITA!

Any pictures of the cockpit? Looks like the interior was all re-done as well.
