My Suburban really doesn't tow mine very well. I wouldn't want to take it long distances. It's definately a 10,000+ lb load with boat, trailer, fuel and gear!

Is your 'burban a 1500 or 2500? I've been Bullet shopping for a few weeks now, and my 1/2 ton Dodge which I ordered in '05 to tow 8700 lbs is a concern.

New trailer worked well, we're cleaning her stem to stern tomorrow. Sending the cushions to the upholstery shop in the next few weeks [planning on waiting until it turns colder], read the thread about the Cigarette patches and logos, anybody got a jpg? Best gauges-Livorsi? Havent done any research yet, also thinking of replacing the compass with a chartplotter-has anybody done that, there is really no sheltered place for a gps, unless Im really missing something-Any advice would be helpful!

Congrats on the new ride. I looked at that boat at the end of summer. It was super clean. I also liked the full cover that was on it. I thought the salesman told me he had a spare set of gauges ??? May be that was a different one. At one time last summer, there were at least 4 Bullets for sale at LOTO!

It's a 1/2 ton and max load listed is like 8600lb. You can by a 10,000lb hitch that will fit and replace the springs with 3/4 ton and better shocks.

Not the best solution, but better than a new tow vehicle. I also live like 10 minutes away from where I put over most of the time.

Screamineagle 11-18-2007 09:16 AM

I too will not be towing too far to splash the boat and the cost of a

new truck is not that much less than a Bullet! For now I will save

that money for fuel.

My g/f's '99 5.4 Expedition is very unimpressive for pulling. I got tired of the 1/2 ton sh*t and bought a 1-ton Ford V10 van. I don't think it pulls like an F-series diesel, but it's getting the job done for now with my 21' toy hauler heading to the races. It's gonna have its limits with a boat, though. Probably have to stop at 31' for towing, and a Bullet would be a stretch for it, IMO.

Glad to hear that boat is going well! I too thought the ower said it had extra gauges with it, but maybe I'm smoking crack on that one. Send us pics of the updates. I'm glad to hear the boat is tight. You gonna worry about the crack in the deck or are ya gonna leave it?

Calling a gel coat guy on Monday, got the towing situation figured out, didnt like any of the used trucks, bought an 08 chevy 3/4 ton diesel 4wd, figured that could still get me off a slick ramp, and seems to tow the boat easily. Anybody in the market for an 97 expedition or 02 jaguar s-type? putting them up this week-cheap. Livorsi got me a quote on the gauge panel and gauges, making rounds at the local marine shops, i wish i could find someone who didnt look surprised when i told them what i wanted them to work on! Were having a cold spell, so its a good time to get some maintenance and updating done on the boat, but if my wife sees the checks im gonna write for some of this stuff, i may be living in the bullet!

BTW. On an older topic, did anyone (Klaw maybe?) start a Bullet or Cig spreadsheet to try and list all that can be found of the 68 or so that were made? It would be a nice little winter project.
