Seller says the TG is an '87, but searching around it doesn't look like any 85-88's I've seen...

That is not a topgun...it is a flat deck. There were very few TG's built in 87.

There were a limited # of TG's built that year but it looks like a flatdeck to me from the pictures. Take the number off of the hull that starts with CRT and call in the entire # to Cigarette...they can verify what it is.

I think that boat has been advertized as a top gun for a couple of years. It may be one but that isn;t the deck you see on TGs

That dash is extremely odd...it doesn't look like a flat deck dash either. All flatdecks and TG's I have been around have the throttles and shifters seperate.

That dash doesn't look like something Cigarette built at all. Boat still looks like a flat deck though.

Even the 87 T/G's look like the 90's T/G's. Same design throughout the years. That's a FLAT DECK!

I used to own a 1987 TG it was the third one built, and the dash and deck were like all the rest of the TG's. Definately not like that.

I have a feeling their idea of "professionally redone" and mine are different. Look at the operators side deck hatch in the last picture...its got a piece of plastic duct taped over it :rolleyes: I assume it leaks and is kept outside. I don't think Martin or lipship did that :D

At $45,000 it looks like it could be a steal...problem is you could dump another $45,000 in it without blinking an eye.

If I were looking for a reasonably priced 38' Cig (whatever that is) I would be looking hard at this one and throwing an offer at it. It looks like it is ready to go.

Hull and deck look like a flat deck. Dash could be aftermarket but the cabin door is not a flat deck piece either. Could this have been something Cig was testing new T/G ideas on.
The dash is fugly, I do remember this boat being for sale as a T/G for a couple of years. Call Cig and get the real story.

In 85-7, a company in Michigan purchased some of the Cig hulls and made their own liners etc. I cannot remember the name of the company but I do know one guy that has one. His dash does NOT look like that.

There are alot of folks that think that just because they own a 38 foot Cigarette that it's a Top Gun. Alot of the time they have stumbled across a deal on an old flat deck and have no knowledge of Cigarettes. They can look on the website and see that the 38 is a Top Gun and assume their's is too. Common misconception. :cool:

Just like not all 911 Porsches are the same. I.E. 930, 964, 993, 996, 997, just to name a few.

I would not pay $45k for it.
Maybe $25k (with the trailer that did not cost $8000).
If it has a CRT Hull ID # ?
Just my opinion.
