See, this is a classic example of someone who doesn't need to be on the water, much less in a performance boat. I'm sure his driving and safety skills are non existent judging by the condition of the boat. I can only imagine what those motors would say if they could talk.

Sorry to see that. I know it has to absolutely infuriate you to see your former pride and joy being abused and neglected.

On a positive note. The hit he will take if and when he sells it will be tremendous compared to what he probably paid. So big that he probably will not be able to get another one, thank god.

Guy must have more money than brains with no appreciation for upkeep. Your right, this would be a good time to see if you could make a deal and get it back to what a boat should look like. Looks like it was a great boat before he tried to destroy it.

dukenrock 04-27-2005 01:58 PM

Re: Got a call today.......

By the looks of all the grease on the steering wheel and seats it looks like he's been fighting mechanical problems for some time. The handle on my grease gun doesn't have that much grease on it!

Re: Got a call today.......

Looking closer, it definitely has been sitting for sometime without a cover of any kind. It almost looks like it has been used as a service boat for a marina. The steering wheel and everything are covered in dirt and grease.

That boat is completely trashed irreversibly. It would have to be 100% redone inside and out. I guarantee you that none of the electronics or gauges work anymore from rain etc. As it sits it's not worth $20k.

What burns me is that alot of people would kill to own a boat like that.

Re: Got a call today.......

I put a lot of TLC into that boat....when I got it...it needed a little work....mostly cosmetic....I put all new gauges and panels in it...new swim platform...had all the embroidery work done....totally detailed the paint and had all the dock rash taken off....redid the rear seat upholstery....new carpet.....new steering wheel...had the blowers redone....uncountable coats of wax....new drive showers....new bravo one props....front bolsters and all grab handles powdercoated....I mean I put some time into this boat....it was like new when I let her go.......and now look at it.....what a waste.......and it only took a year.....

That' s right...you took the pics for me prior to my visit. Thanks agian for doing that!

I've been doing good Rich... The boat is sitting in my yard sans motors...doubt I'll use it this year...need to buy new power and pretty sure i'm gonna stay simple with 496HO/Bravo drive packages, now i just need to figure out how to pay for it all. :)

Hope all is well with you...I see you're selling the gladiator...got your eyes on a 47 Apache? :) Any idea what they want for that old resin bucket?

spitfire1 04-27-2005 02:32 PM

Re: Got a call today.......

I remember when you were selling that thing....If I had the cash back then I would've bought it! I loved that boat....That is very sad.

Grimmy, you're freakin funny man. You're more excited than I was when I got my boat! :drink:

I don't understand how you could get a boat that dirty. There are not enough of these boats made to have one go down like that. Where's the bat???

wow, I've been known to leave mine for a few hours to sleep and get up in the morning to clean it but that is bad!! bet he did the swim platform backing it into something...

Re: Got a call today.......

That's a damn shame. I'm getting ready to deal with the same thing with my 311. Put many hours of blood, sweat and tears into this thing to get it in the shape it is. I know it won't be maintained like I would do it. To top it all off, it's going to stay right here on the same river we boat on. Oh well, C'est la Vie. It won't bother me as bad once I get the TG in the stable! :evilb: :evilb:

Damn Rich, that`s a shame. I had never seen your boat in person but I know someone who had and they said that it was immaculate.
I know how you feel though. The person that I sold my jet boat to a few years ago trashed it in about the same amount of time. Bastids!

makes you sick to your stomach to see that.
Should have pulled the OSO sticker off while you were there. (Don't want to have any connection with this owner )

Re: Got a call today.......

I looked at Rich's boat when he had it for sale and it was the nicest Top Gun I looked at. Betty and I have talked about it several times. What a shame.

Re: Got a call today.......

Florida has gone way over our quota for "people with more money than brains" There is a certain group of people out there that aren't as obsessed as us with offshore boats and don't care about the boat. It's just a throwaway toy to them. Or they're just stupid.

What is the yellowish stuff on the hull sides ? Never seen a hull stained like that.

My guess is, that it sat out by a sprinkler with well water.....I have seen sides of houses look like that......but its just a guess.....

Salt will do that to the bottom over time. It happens much quicker when you don't wash it off, especially on the sides. Clearly the boat hasn't seen soap since you last washed it.
