In other news, Jeffrey did you sell your Gladiator?

No. Still have it and still lovin' it. New power should really make it fly! More on that later ... :)

Most of you who have suggested around $85k was where I originally pegged the number. Understandably, that was a far cry from where my friend wanted to start. I guess time will tell.

If anyone is seriously interested send me a PM. He may consider an obnoxious offer. I have known him (and others) to do crazy things when you did not expect them to. If we catch him on a good day someone could end up with a steal!

Jeffrey -

First let me say that this is a VERY cool boat.

It basically comes down to demographics. There were so few Cigarette and Apache race - style boats built back then because so few people could afford the initial purchase cost much less the astronomical maintenance. So the target market is very small to begin with. Couple that with the recent availability of very fast Cigarettes with relatively mild power, and that gives the target market another very viable option. The age of the boat is another factor. Add rising insurance costs into the mix and it further 'thins the herd'.

So I agree with the folks above who basically say that the boat while very, very cool, is not quite worth the sum of it's parts.

I've seen unrigged and cut for 6's with a six man stand-up and staggered for $40,000. Add used power and used drives and what do you come up with? It is unique. Alot of people want to be unique and NOT have a boat similar to everyone else. I'm one of them. Asking price of $150,000. is not out of line. A price that you are willing to take and live with IS the question?
