Opinions Needed

As most of you know I've had the '89 Bullet for sale with no takers. I really have no clue & have offered this boat way under market value to compensate for upgrades. I'm toying with the idea of tearing the cockpit down to paint the dash white. I'm open to any suggestions.

I beleive you are going the right route before you really do a lot of work for nothing.

Where is the link and pics so we can evaluate?

I am in the market for a boat like yours, except... The black dash is a big "no no" in Texas. It will be 100 again today. I need a white dash.

BTW.. How much $$$ are you asking? $47K, right?

Just my two-cents...

One more thing... I would love to see some cockpit pics. I believe that the cockpit is the part of the boat that the passengers see the most. I would want to see overhead pics of the cockpit and sundeck (of any boat) before I would go see it in person.

Cockpit pics of other boats...

Clay,
I'll paint the dash but the gauges are out of budget. Just finished up painting the trailer & need to update some pics. Replaced all wheel bearings/seal/brakes/brake lines/brakes/wiring harness/lights ready to make a long trip.

I also have internal hydraullic helm steering I'll be installing as well. Nothing like latham/marine machine but a cut above the merc stuff.

Dash & shifters painted white...Paint the grey Red...Check SS Comp for guages....Alot of people just cant see beyond flashy paint.And..Take better pics !..Pull it out in the sun with a nice background !...It all seems silly but...It sells ! What they call "Curb" appeal. Hope some of this helps ! That boat should have sold along time ago

Re: Opinions Needed

Birdog, I may just do that. When you say paint the grey red, do you mean the transom or the outer grey stripe ?

birdog 08-22-2005 02:54 PM

Re: Opinions Needed

I would do the stripe & transom....Mine was painted that way from Cig....Looked very good..Transom is still red....
Red = BLING !!! :D
Talk to Bob at SS if you decide to do guages, He will treat you right !!..Or...Just do White Dash & panel with red bezels ?
Fred can hook you up with Bezels...A little "Flash"

May do just that, will call Bob as well. Seem's like the gauges will be time consuming to say the least. Not too bad of a price from what I see on the web site. How do them gauges hold up?
I never installed bezels but assuming the guages need to be removed ? If thats the case...hmmm.

birdog 08-22-2005 04:47 PM

Re: Opinions Needed

Bob will give you an education on guages...He did me.......
Time consumming marking every wire not hard tho....Spray your panel white...Bezels & guages & Ye-Haw ! :D
First Impression sells em everytime !! :D

cig1988...

You and I talked some about your boat too. The things mentioned above are what turned me away from being interested in the boat. Dunno, maybe it's just me, but I could justify mid 50s in price if things had been updated like a newer one.

IF I buy a Bullet it would mean a lot to me to have it turn key the way I want it. Updated dash, guages, bilge, and swim platform would make the sale for me.

Well...............now I'm wondering what is market price on a 1988 454 bullet???????????????????? with the needed updates or without???

Some other bullets have sold recently, carter31 bought the mich bullet......what is the deal with these boats????

What is the absolute "Must Sell" bottom line on a boat like this???

Seems all the cigarette's selling are "drastically reduced" Must Sell boats........

I'm just wondering too??????

Appreciate the feedback, was hoping I could let it go at a reasonable price & have room to do what they wanted. Kind of like buying a house...the 1st month your in the demolition starts. Took me all of about 3 hours to remove the compnets and much work ahead.

Stan

Offered the boat @ a steal to a few members here that sparked an intrest. At the point where I just want to get my $$ out of it and move on the the '88 I've owned "forever".
Market price on these boats mid 40's up pending what they need. Some may aggree/disaggree but the Bullett is a great boat. When it does go someday I'll sure be depressed about it.

The bullet is a great boat, I agree.

Opinions do differ and from what I can tell mid 40's isn't market value on an 89 bullet or the boat would have sold already.

Nada comes in at $34,850 - $42,000, for what ever that worth...

Take into consideration the updates the others on the thread are asking for................and what is a good price to sell it for???????

Just my unprofessional opinion......good luck selling

Alot better!!!!! How about some pics of the whole boat sitting on the trailer? I miss my Bullet. It was sooo much easier than the TG to trailer, load/unload and drive.

I'll be launching the boat real early Saturday and take some pics at the beach parking lot when nobody is around. Besides, I've got to stop & gas 'er up before the mad rush.
I forgot how many screws there was holding everything together. Much easier taking everything apart rather to tape up. Makes for a better job & rewarding once its together
Here's a pic of the trailer I finished a few weeks back. Used some stuff called rust bullet. Supposed be way better than por15. I can tell ya that it's sure tough to get off skin. I looked like the freakin tin man after I was done.
