Towing a 38-foot Flatdeck

Can I tow a 38-foot Flatdeck with a Chevy 2500HD? The Chevy brochure says that it can safely tow 10,000 pounds.

Thanks!

I tow my 38 Top Gun T/S with zero difficulty with a 2500HD Duramax. I have a friend that towed his 42 Fountain all the time with a 2500HD V8, no problems.

Not a problem. Just use some Delvac 1 or some M-1 5w40 truck and SUV and you will be great!

Thanks! I currently own a 2004 Chevy Z71 that can tow 7800 pounds. I am selling my (5000 pound) Crownline tomorrow, so I won't need a 1/2 ton pickup truck.

I have found a 2005 Chevy 2500HD 4x4 with the 6.0L engine, and it can tow 10,000 pounds. I know that I am gonna buy another boat that is bigger than my 22-foot Crownline, so I might as well get a bigger truck now.

6.0.....You mean Duramax I hope........?
That 6.0 Gas wont get the job done....Flatdeck on a trailer will be in the 13-14k range, easy

No, not that one. I'm looking at a 1986 Flatdeck here in Texas. It has "almost new" 454's and the seller in motivated. It is probably a slow boat, but it will be a wave crusher. :D

If I can get a good deal, I will buy it now. If not, I will probably wait until January and do some serious "tire kicking." :p

ONLY buy the Duramax. If you are bent on gas, the 8.1L V8 will get the job done, but the Dmax will do it better.

PS, nice flatdeck, but its gonna need some new skegs and a new trailer.
