Race Fairing

Did the 1985 mistress that I have offer a race fairing instead of the windshield. I like the look of the race fairing over the windshield with the wind deflectors. I was wondering if the ones I have seen on the flat decks and mistresses were homeade jobs? Maybe someone on OSO has one for sale

My '85 fairing is factory w/ race hatches #3s. Not selling but can help you out anyway you need with measurements, patterns etc. Let me know.

Nice Pictures, I am going to poke around and see if anyone has one laying around. If not, it may be a winter project. I like the way yours looks. I want to keep it the same size as my windsheild now because I just got all new sunbrella. I think I would be ok with the flip up windscreens.

I think my fairing is much higher/taller than the windshield is. It's like 12"-13" tall. Yup, sure would be a shame to waste all that sunbrella! :D :D :p But I'm here if you need me ... BTW sweet 'new' rig too

Re: Race Fairing

Well, I am starting to fall in love with the windshield since I don't want to screw up my new canvas work. Oh well, thanks for the help.

I have a pair of 540s they make just over 690HP They are new last year, they have about 45 hours I have them with a rev limiter (5000). The TRS drives. Spinning a pair of mirage 25s. They shift smooth but I worry about how long they will last. I don't run wot so I am hoping for them to last a long time.

Here were the two fairing/windshield options in 1984. Which one would you choose?

1. Our old 35 Mistress
2. My cousin David's 35 Mistress

As much as I like fairings, I really prefer the windsheild in this case.

my buddy painted his winshield to match the color of his hull and screwed in wind deflectors if you didnt know it you would think it was a fairing

There's an idea cigrocket ... and you can still save the Sunbrella too :D :evilb:

Re: Race Fairing

I had to take a double look at the above picture since that looks so much like my boat minus the windshield. Painting I guess could be an option. The glass in my winshield is lexan or plexi anyway tinted slightly. I am sure it would paint even.

Back in the day, I ran in an A-Class 30' Mirage. We took the widshield glass out and installed composite panels in the frame. It worked well and looked cool. I am a fan of race fairings, however I feel your boat looks awesome with a windshield on it.
Just my .02 :drink:
