how many of you would buy a vice?

this is just a question. in a few years i want to move up a to a bigger boat. as much as i want a top gun thats not going to happen for a long time. my question for you is if any of you are looking at moving into the 30 foot range would you buy the vice. i love the boat but 200k for a thrity is a little high and i know its a cig and you pay for the name and i know you cig guys will stand behind it. thats why i want one. please tell my your opions on this boat or what you guys would do. like i said im not looking right now but i would like to move up as soon as possible.

Re: how many of you would buy a vice?

I was considering getting a Vice until i found my 2002 35' playboy, but after having the 35 there is no way i would get a Vice, if and when i get another boat it will be at least a 35'.
I spent as much on a used 2002 as i would have for a new Vice so price was not the issue.

I went from a 26' Sonic to a 37' Active Thunder. Once you go twins, there really is not so much difference between 30-38 feet. Go big; or go home. :D

If you want to stay around 30'...Buy a Bullet

Re: how many of you would buy a vice?

I don't think I would buy the vice. Like birbdog said buy the bullet it will be cheaper.

We went from a 25' Nordic to a Top Gun and haven't looked back since. Don't worry too much about the jump in length, you'll be glad you did it.

Re: how many of you would buy a vice?

I would get a Cafe or older Gun. More marketable in my opinion.

Re: how many of you would buy a vice?

I looked at one real close. Nice boat. However, I'd rather have a 2000 or 2001 Top Gun T/S for around $200k. The only way I would buy one is if I had size restrictions on dock space or something like that.

Re: how many of you would buy a vice?

move into a 35 before you move into a gun... with a 35 or a 38 it changes a lot.. you need a truck to pull, you need a place to keep it.. its a little different than a smaller boat...

Re: how many of you would buy a vice?

Take your pick. There are some sick used TG's (with some serious HP) for sale
and you can get a bad a$$ tow rig all for under 200k!!
28' to 30' to 35' to 38' every couple of years.
I think that is called "the case of the three footies".

thisistank 11-12-2005 01:52 PM

Re: how many of you would buy a vice?

We went from a 24' Baja Outlaw to our Top Gun. I was very familiar with Cafe's too and was looking at both but decided on the Gun and glad I did. You'll be glad you went bigger instead of wanting bigger in a year or so.

The Vice is a sweet boat but I think it is a bit over priced. Bring it down to about 150k and it would sell a HELL of a lot better. And by the way, the original asking on them was like 180k and some change and I was told if you know the right people you can get one for somewhere around 150-160 range.

Bullets are cool, but I don't personally like the stepped deck but you can get one for a good price.

If you're looking at spending high hundreds I would seriously look at that Playboy that's listed. that thing is SWEEEET! but then again if you're looking at spending that much you are in a great buyers market. There are a lot of boats in the mid 100's.

Good luck, keep us posted.

So you are, or aren't looking? :D

Some of the 01 Top Gun T/S boats are selling for less than 200k. That blows the Vice away.

i think i would like to move up in about 3 years but we will see. i would take a top gun over the vice for that amount of money

who the hell invited that hustler guy to chime in with that crap. the vice is too much for too little. do think about the dually your gonna need etc. im an entry level guy, i have an older mistress with 1400 doggies an have 45k in it...its a lotta go for a lil dough, and my mistress is awsome in big water. im thinking of buying a gun rigged with 6's if i can find one reasonably. if you have a 200k budget you can buy a lot with the used perf boat market today.

I agree with Twin Step. There are several nice used Top Guns out there for 200 or less and will out run the Vice in the rough stuff.

If you have it in your head that you want to stay in the 30' range, I would also be looking for a bullet, or another brand. 200K for a 30' is alot - there are much better deals out there, and boats that you could resell in a few years and not take as big a hit on.

Unfortunately, it still doesn't run.... It was supposed to go to Cig till the roof blew off during the hurricane. So now, she's still at LCM waiting to go down. Last I heard from Randy, she was going next week... Yes, it's November and she's still DOA. They were supposed to have her done for KW, but you I guess I found you can wish in one hand and sh!t in the other and see which one got filled first! :D

Brand new 42 OL carbon had fuel leak and the only way to fix is chop the new floor up to repair

Yep, that comes on a 700k boat at n/c :(

Vandy, I think Cig/Merc will get you resolved.

Were you in the Windy City Lambo run with the boats by chance?

Do yourself a favor and buy the newest, longest, most efficient, and most reliable boat for the money. I saw that the OSO boat if for sale, 36ft., cig., twins, 3 years old, and most of all WAY under your budget! Click the link for a nice pic!
