here we go...enjoy!
This boat came out of the same mold that "The CIGARETTE" was made from. Jean Claude Simon bought Cary and changed the deck to look like this...it was a version of Italian designer Poalo Caliari's decks. The hull was exactly as Don had raced it and the boat was once again a winner. |
Re: Do you know your boats DNA?
i can see direct resemblance in the hull....neat

We are talking about a 32 foot boat here, and the only 32 foot "Cigarette" I ever remember in the early 70's was a race boat called "Little Cigarette". That 32 footer set a new high speed record and was owned by Hal Sahlman of Boca Raton...who later owned and raced the sixth 35 foot Cigarette out of the mold, called Spirit....which was later owned and raced by Rocky Aoki called Benihana....which is now owned by me....every boat has a story. Back to the 32 Little Cigarette...it was the butt ugliest Cigarette ever built, cut down so much the engine hatches looked like an apartment building from South Beach stacked on the stern. Yes, I do have a picture of it.....but after trying to get this picture posted, I think I will just e-mail it to my son and have him post it tom'w. Look closely at the lines on this 32 foot boat and you can see how this was stretched into the famous 36 footers that won so many races in the 70's |

These things are sherman tanks. I looked at a 32 that had 3 man bolsters, full cabin and staggered engines about 4-5 years ago - I think it was at TNT. Can't recall of the top of my head. It needed a ton of work, but the one thing I remember clearly is that you felt invincible once you got in it. Wish I bought it. This is the only picture I could find.

Re: Do you know your boats DNA?
Top Banana, follow these very simple steps to post a pic....
1) right click on the picture you want to post. 2) click on "open with" 3) Click on "Microsoft Paint" 4) click on "image" in top left corner 5) Click on "Stretch and Skew" 6) In the box that opens where it says "Verticle and Horizontal" type in '50' in each box. This reduces the picture by 50%. Note, the picture should be just a bit smaller than the screen when you shrink it. If not it's still not small enough and you'll have to shrink it just a bit more. 7) after shrinking go to "file", click on "Save as" and type in a new saved name (or you save over the original). Save the pic to you computer and when you "browse" to open a picture on a thread you'll be able to find it by name. It's VERY simple. Now, that shortened 35 isn't THAT ugly. I've seen alot worse! :D |
