Lesson learned today
I thought my 2002 35' playboy held 225 gal just like the 38' top guns. nope :( It holds 140 gal and since it gets 1 mile per gal it does not go the 200 miles that we were traveling
but since the port motor uses more fuel when it ran out i headed for shore and almost made it. :( i guess the money i spent on vessel assist was worth it, 5 gals got me to the gas dock and it was only $3.75 a gal. ouch But it was still a great day and the water was sweet. |
Re: Lesson learned today
Yup it was an awesome day for boating- i was w/ Sherman in the Scarab today...
Nice Catalina trip and perfect off shore boating weather. Keep it full... Dave |

Dan
Glad you made it to shore safely! You guys are truly nutz for traveling across the open ocean for that distance. I am bummed we missed ya'all. As we were racing across the channel, the starboard coil gave out and the engine was misfiring badly. I am sunburned from the long idle home. Hugh |
Re: Lesson learned today
We had a great time (although never enough) and the boat was running great...we always fill up before a run too...
Bummed we weren't able to hang out on the island with everyone...but made the wife happy making it to the wedding. Our boat never seems to take the whole 100 gals a side either and we ran one dry at Mead (lucky we were already at the ramp) and it still only took around 90 gals... Tom |
Re: Lesson learned today
I ran them both dry and they each took 70 gal. i checked my manual(which only list the specs for a cafe racer) and it says that it holds 190. if i had that other 50 gal i would have made it.
