There might be a little easier ngress and egress for, ahem, J-Lo type rear ends when using the bars versus the handels.

I am assuming you are discussing the rear seat bars?

Still not sure exactly what the difference we're talking about here. I just prefer the classic Cig handle look. Have replaced a number of the older "flat stock" handle on the back of the seats with the newer round stock handles and think they look great. The rear seat folks have to have something to hold on to in the rough stuff. And we all know the Cigs love the ruff stuff.

Funny I saw this thread today. We were just out last Saturday in 6'-8' footers. My friend who was the odd man out (3rd person in the boat), standing in the middle, nearly came out of the boat when we hit a couple big waves - told him to hang on, but the "handles" were too small in not in the best spots (for standing in between the bolsters) vs. the "bars" that wrap around the bolsters. Honestly, I saw my buddy's feet at least 4' in the air (nearly above my head). We finally had to stop because he couldn't hold on.

He rode w/ me in my last 38, which had the bars wrapping around the seats, and no one ever had a problem (and that included a trip thru Govt. Cut in Miami in 2001 when we had 8'-10's just past the left-handed curve heading out).

---so, in my opinion, bars are better ---- but, sitting in a bolster is best!!!!!! :D

Are you talking about the rear seat with/without grab handles?
