Re: Weight of a 1981 33Ft Mistress
If I had to guess I'd say somewhere between 10-11K.

Re: Weight of a 1981 33Ft Mistress
The "Don" made 10 33 foot mistress for the DEA in 1981. Or atleast that is what I was told. My boat is a 33 foot flat deck with orginal CRT33 hull number. There is very limited info on these older boats.

No, or atleast not any good ones. I am still reworking it. The engine rebuild have been fun. Mostly comes down to I do not have the right type of facilites to work on it. Lovin the boat, but it is one thing after anyother. Just boating

Looks like a 33 widebody to me, a buddy has one here in Ohio, not many 33 wides out there, has the 9ft beam
|

Spot-on from what I weighed yss' boat at a OTR scale year's ago. |
I was reminiscing a story about a 33 Cig because I was trying to estimate the fuel consumption of a 35 Mistress I am currently putting together. I knew exactly how far the 33 Cig equipped with 370 Mercs could run based on the story I was remembering, I just could not remember the original fuel capacity. When I did a fuel capacity search I came across this old thread. Dont know if anyone out there would see this post. There most definitely was a limited number of these early edition 33 Cigarettes produced. The people I worked for at that time purchased 4 brand new ones directly from Don Aronow in May 1981. They were built specifically for us. The boat had one peculiarity that I have never seen again. I was just looking and I have photos of at least 2 possibly 3 of those 33 Cigarettes, and some tales of adventure stories that go with them
|
Fuel consumption.... A lot!
|
Thats not as bad as I expected.
Actually I was thinking with around 500 horsepower per engine, maybe around 40 gallons per hour at a cruse around 3000 - 3200 rpm??? |

33 Cigarettes. Photos taken during 1981 and 1982

Interesting for sure! I owned hull #10 from 2005-2009 with 420HP's at the time. yss has it now. Have no idea on the fuel consumption, never really wanted to know! I want to say capacity was around 100gal in the belly tank. There was another forward tank in the bow that I never used.
Have several pics if interested; or you should be able to search under my screen name and find some of the old posts. I'd LOVE to hear of that "one peculiarity" and those adventurous tales you speak of. Something tells me it has to do with that large deck hatch that served a "special purpose"!! |

New to the site. First post. My father just gave me his 1982 crt33 hull cig and it’s in great shape. Just pulled the engines to clean them up. Last time it’s been in the water was 96 I think. The engines were rebuilt shortly after, never started. I dropped the oil pan to pull the cam and inspect everything, looks like it was rebuilt yesterday. Holy **** was I amazed. Going back together soon and having an engine tune made for the 502 efi. Can’t post pics till I have 10 posts. Would love more info on these 33’ mistresses. |
Welcome to the cig family!! |

33 is not Mistress, the 33 was a wide body.
|
Full Force is correct. The 33's were not a "Mistress", rather a 33 Limited Edition. I posted over on the HIN thread, but you likely have hull #12 and one of the last 33's Cig ever made.
Is your's the white & red one attached above? I recall that particular one floating around that was one of the later ones and in really good shape. Get that post count up and post some pics. Would love to see it! |
Congrats. I would love to see some more pictures and hear how it runs.

Here is a 36' wide body that is not for the faint hearted........

I had a 2000 33OL that was 12,500 on a trailer.
Wouldn`t think a '81 Cig would be any lighter. Just the opposite, they used to pour the resin in 50 gallon drums in those things. |
