Bilge Paint- old school Cig Red

Since I yanked out 1 engine last weekend, I am interested in fresh'in up my bilge with original cig red paint.

Are there any suggestions on where I can purchase a like-color red. Epoxy, emeron(sp) or ?. Spray or brush on?
It originally looked like it was applied with a mop (it's not so smooth, is that an original look?)

Boat is 1990 Cig Bullet

Thank you,

I'm sure the Dragon dudes would have an answer. Craig Barrie or Scott Smith.

Have you thought about changing it up to white. I have done 3 and it updates it alot very easy to find a leak also if you get one.

Stan,
Scott and Craig have been great in the past and will P.M them.

Carter,
right now I would like to keep old school only because I am trying to get this beast back in the water this season to spend more money on gas :eek: and eventually, when both engines come out I will most likely go all white-big job- basicly looking for touch up right now.

Purnel- I will look into awlgrip.

Thank you guys

keep it old school... :)

i just redid my cafe and opted to keep the bilge red...just my preference i guess, but i like the old school.

i'm still undecided on the 20 though...i may go white or keep it red...it all depends on whether i decide to completely updat the entire boat as a "restomod" or restore it to original with new updated power...

Something about that red is just unique. I like as well. Sean, is it running ?

Thank you,

Votes are to keep it RED, but could anyone help with the original questions?

Where to buy, epoxy, imron, spray, brush, application, color codes? I would like to re-do mine possibly as well.

Thanks Chris :cool:

UPDATE:
Dragon Dude:Scott Smith (great guy!) gave me a lead.
He stated that they use to use Red Gel by Cook Composites and Polymers.
I did a yahoo search {Cook Composites and PolymersP.O. box 419389, Kansas City, MO 64141-6389 800-821-3590}
They have a web site http://www.ccponline.com/
so i will check out.

BTW,I made up my mind- Red it will stay-oem. (the color reminds me of the early 911S engine cowlings were red as opposed to the lower h.p. E and the T models; old school again :cool: )

BIGGUS-absolutely gorgeous! :D :D :D

MrCig= impressive as well :D :D :D

polished components (blowers and tube headers) sure accent the red- :drink:

Thanks guys-time to spend more money :rolleyes:
