35 Playboy Speeds
 

For those of you that own or have owned 35 Playboys, what are you seeing for top end speeds and cruise speeds at about 3700-3800 RPM with 500 EFI's.

I don't have 500's but 525s. On the GPS speedo, 52 MPH@3500 and 62@4000. 86 on the top end.

What do you have in that boat. Is that 88 or 89? Is that a Playboy or a gun?

It's a 02 35' TS Playboy(or Mistress depending on who you ask) with 500 efi's

must of left the batteries on when trailering... a 525 boat wont do that :D

Im thinking the same. My Gladiator which is bare bones in race trim only hits 89-90mph with the stock 500efi's

Me to, the fastest i noticed was 84 out in the ocean with three people in the boat.

i was suprized when i saw the recall. but i guarantee you that i never have towed it that fast.

But GPS can make mistakes i have no idea when that speed came up.

There is a local one here with 525's from NM, they said hit 90, I will see if I can get him to post.

I have an 2003 with 525's with stock bravo 4 blade 86-88 depending on gas. Did hit 90 with props form Tres on fumes.

ya'll probably don't care but i saw this thread and decided to post as i found something interesting after repowering and switching over to bravo drives.

my 87 cafe runs 50mph on GPS @3600RPM w/496HOs ... I'm feeling pretty good about myself :)

although top end is still around 70mph...@4800(have some adjustments to make so i can get full throttle out of it...

so i guess that's where the step bottom really shines...getting more air under the boat at higher speeds certainly helps with top end speeds...

Gas? Meaning 93 vs 87 or load? What props did you hit 90 with? Are you running ITS Sportmasters?

My 2001 ran best of 83 on freshwater w/500EFI's. I saw no improvement when using 92 octane. I also switched to 30" labbed bravos and did not pick up any top speed but accleration was much better.

2001 playboy, tops speed, 83 most days, did see 86 once, probaly current aided in the east river, NYC......

How do these handle up top, say over 75 mph ? Anything noteworthy ?

I owned a 2001 for a couple of years and thougth the boat had a great ride and flew very level.

While we are on the subject, would anyone be interested in a Myco cradle for the Mistress/playboy? THe original cradle Myco had built for me had some bunks in the wrong spots.They need to be re-welded into the right position. If no oone wants I'll scrap it...

I always use 87 or 89 oct. I hit 90 mph one time with 32 lab bravos that were tweeked by Tres Martin. I was on fumes. It could do 89 all the time with the lab props. The props only lasted two months. I run 30 bravos all the time. I have ITS Sportmasters with a 1/2 spacer. Boat is best Boat I ever owned.
