I got to disagree, it's all in the equipment the boat is rigged with and proper maintenance. Don't know the above boat but I do know my 1989 Top Gun is probably the most reliable performance boat on my lake. Three seasons (300+ hrs) of nothing but oil changes and general maintenance. I'd much rather have an older clean Speedmaster 'Gun than a Bravo 'Gun. just my .02 :D |

Re: 38 top gun
please... a bravo boat is way better... resale... financing etc... that 87 is 20 yrs old...
a nice 500 efi 98-99 will be 100k with 200hrs...real reliable |
Re: 38 top gun
The way I like to use my boat I could not afford a Bravo Top Gun.
|
Re: 38 top gun
i run mine with 5 blades 80+ .... never have i broken a bravo and mine r regular bravos 1s not x xz or xr
|
Re: 38 top gun
The older speedy boats will burn twice fuel & need higher octane, also twice- maintenance, and problems, cost to repair or replace. Insurance is more as is financing. In other words twice the cost to own. :p

when a boat's hull is made correclty and not subjected to damaging conditions. I.e. water left in hull for long periods of time, unsealed holes through the glass, etc. then the hull is as good as day one. Look at fiberglass applications in other high stress environments. That's why oulerlimits can offer a lifetime warranty on their hulls... |

There are plenty of newer boats whose hulls are not as good as some olders. Its all in the rigging and power. There are plenty of guys w/ new power built improperly and the engines are always being worked on. I would not hesitate to look at some of these older mint boats. |
Re: 38 top gun
Dreamer,
Your old gun looks almost exactly like my 98. I bought the hatch cover. Can you imagine how I felt when I saw the colors! I still need to renew my membership here so I can't pm. Email me and I'll show you some pic's. [email protected] |
