Wow Joe, you're fiesty today....Don't worry you wont be boatless for long :evilb:
Look for the test review of the 39CC in an upcoming Powerboat mag issue. They tested it and Phils 42X a couple of weeks ago and were impressed, to say the least, with both. |

Joe I loved the billet top, power seats and other feautures in the boat but don't think it will represent Cigarette's image. As far as my boat, I thought you could figure it was a Sunsation. Did you see the new F4 with 700's about 50 ft from the Cigarette display? Just for the record, Phil's 42 X was the baddest Cigarette at the show and represents the product line nicely. Since you sold your TG, Did you buy the Top Fish? |

Re: 39' Cigarette Top Fish
I think the top right Cigarette photo in jayboat's post #33 looks like something commisioned by McDonald's!!
Just look at those seats...my first thought was a french fry container. And yes...I ate supper about a half hour ago and it wasn't Mickey D's!! I think Cigarette has been going in the wrong direction for a loooong time. Too much bling that I feel is visually obtrusive to the heritage of this boat. How about a 'retro' styled boat like Ford has done with the Mustang? That will keep purists like me happy. I think their work on the Shelby GT500 is magnificent. Classic, agressive lines with modern underpinnings and the right power. That's why I bought one for my girlfriend last week. Only 3K over MSRP...pays to be in the right place at the right time!! Come on Cigarette...rise to the challenge and step up to the plate. Use the TG as your platform. Ferrari pulled it off with their new 599 GTB and the 612 Scaglietti. I have also owned a few prancing horses too - early ones, of course. Dave |

For tg Hawk and Jupiter Sunsation:
First point: "bling" is what sells right now. You can't fault cig or any of the other brands for meeting customer demands. Second point: Cig (or at least Phil) will build you whatever you want. Cigarette is no stranger to respecting their heritage and representing it in boats they build (if that's what the buyer wants). Case in point, refer to pic below. Third point: I don't really think Cigarette expects to see hard-core fishing buyers. I think they are looking for the customer that wants something to entertain on, fish on, go to diner or drinks on, cruise (fast) on and cruise the bays on. basically a more versatile boat than the current line up. Basically you can't live off the past and stay stuck in a certain era. You need to be constantly re-inventing yourself and keeping things fresh while listening to the buyers demands. I think Cig has done this and is doing this just fine. |
Re: 39' Cigarette Top Fish
If Cig is loking to build all these qualitites into their boat for the "non fishing" layman to look cool in, how are they going to 'splain it to the proud owner of one of the 439 GRAND boats they just got their ass handed to them by a less expensive boat, say a Seahunter or a Yellowfin or a Contender or a SeaVee?? Let alone Fountain..
66 with trips is a pig... Sorry, just laying it out as I see it folks... |

I guess my point is, it's a Cig.. Regardless of what it is built for, it should be able to back the name... And if you need to go home andf get your 42X with .25 million dollars of hp in it to beat a .25 mil boat, Houston, we have a problem.. :) :) |

I guess my point is, the customer that buys this boat wont give a sh!t about who runs what at what speed or that, the perception by some, may be it's too flashy to be a "real" fishing boat. I don't think it's being marketed as an entry level fishing boat. I see it as being marketed as a second boat to those who already own Cigs or have previously owned cigs and want a Cig that's more versatile. With 8 already sold and it just being introduced now, I think Cig is hitting their market correctly and going in a good direction....I.E. selling boats  |

Valid point.. I guess I was just hoping to see a TRUE performance CC on the tournament trail.. Besides beaksters that is...

i hope they make more hardcore fishers.... though they built what people buy, custom not production like fountain... first 8 r sold... guess they build what u want... if someone orders a real fishboat... theyll build it... i hope, so i can buy it in three yrs |

Re: 39' Cigarette Top Fish
Sea Hunters are really not one to pick on.. Fast, well built, gaining a hell of a rep here in S Fl... And as for the rest, I assume you have never fished one of our winter billfish tournaments? We dont ever seem to schedule on on a calm weekend.. I'm betting I wont see a Cig or a Midnite fishing those this year...
BTW, given the choice, the Mid would be mine.. Awesome mold work, rigging and components... You got a keeper there, even if its "piggy" :) :) |

WOW. They have winter in Florida? The guys that own the Midnights are probably out in their 60++++ Sportfishers laughing at all the dumb azzes getting their brains beat out.
Come on dude I know the boats that were mentioned are all awesome boats, take a ride in a 6,000 lb boat and then jump in mine @ 12,500. I've been in both my buddy sold his Yellowfin w/ trips because he could not believe the difference in ride of my old "piggie" compared to his high speed yellowfin. You can call it whatever you want. (couldn't keep up with me) Do you own on of the boats mentioned ? If so you know that when you are down to 12 knots in 4-6's getting you brains bashed and I'm still cruising by you at a 38 Knots, you'll figure out the difference quick. If not you are welcome to take a ride on my piggy offshore :D Top Speed is great, I wish my boat would do 70-80 but the reality is you will never sustain these speeds in the rough. All boats are trade offs. You are talking about two different classes of boats. I don't think Cigarette's aim was at the hard core anglers. The new 39' is a multipurpose boat where fishing is not a primary need, if at all. I don't think the name Top Fish is fitting. Tha boat is aimed at a different clientle who want's a "multipurpose boat." You cannot compare this boat with the other large center consoles on the market. If anything the 39 Midnight is the only boat that has equal comparison in style/ performance etc. Of course I'm partial to Midnight's. The new Cig is cool, even without the BASS PRO SHOP STICKER |

There's a 35' down the street from my house for sale and appears to be a really nice boat. My father in law is concidering buying it. Twin 225's I believe. Nice layout with cabin, head, bait wells, lots of seating. And of course, it's a cousin of cig :drink: |
Re: 39' Cigarette Top Fish
I own a Whitewater, but have fished the others. The bigger Contenders are NOT 6 k boats, do the research.. Hell, their 25 weighs that much, I have the certified scale slip to prove it..
I think someone else covered my earlier point, let me refresh your memory: if your gonna name it TOP FISH, you best be able to back it up.. 66 mph aint gonna cut it, poor fishing amenities aint gonna cut it, poor cockpit layout for fishing aint gonna cut it, and the lack of rod storage certainly aint gonna cut it.. Now, if it was named "top bar to bar cruiser with a cabin and a sink in a weird location", well, then it would cut it.. :) :) As far as Donzi, I'm a Donzi guy.. I am not sure I consider their CC's fishing boats either... I'll be sure to let you know how many I see fishing the tournament trail this winter down here in the land of sun n fun.. We will have 110+ boats at my tournament, care to place a friendly wager on how many will be "Top Fish's"? And, once more to repeat myself: NOT SLAMMING CIG HERE.. They built what they think their market wants.. They just might want to reconsider the name of it :) :) |
Re: 39' Cigarette Top Fish
its just like the fountains... they have a cuddy version AND a tournament version... not to mention the lx sportfish and sportfish cruiser witch are more the comps for this boat....
|
Re: 39' Cigarette Top Fish
this is the first... lets see what happens when we se the rest after customers option thier boats
|
Re: 39' Cigarette Top Fish
I agree with the name Top Fish as I mentioned above inappropriate. Definetly not a fishing boat. I think there just taking a spin off of " Top Gun." Don't be a hater Cigarette is an Awesome Boat.
And Contenders are light, here's the research. Don' t need to know how many Top Fishes are in the tourny, I would never fish one in a Tourney or for fun. Still a cool boat. CONTENDER Hull WEIGHTS 25 2,700 27 3,200 31 Fish Around 4,800 31 Open 3,500 35 Cuddy Tourn (cool boat) 5,200 36 open 5,600 Sorry your right I was off by 400 pounds Whitewater 28 Center Console Nice boat 28'3" 8'6" draft up 1'6" Draft dwn 2'6" Hull Weight W/O power 3,800 Fuel std 150 gal opt 250 deadrise aft 24 degrees cruise speed with twin 225's 30 knots top speed 50 knots Check that 25 Contender that weighs over 6K may be filled with something other than fishing gear. Like another boat. :D |
Re: 39' Cigarette Top Fish
Wrong..
Contender 25: 3100 lbs This is ADVERTISED DRY HULL weight only. No batteries, no rigging, no engine, no T top, no leaning post, no nothing, nada zilch zippo... BRAND new 25.. Single 250 Yammie. 2) grp 27 batteries, 2.0 gallons yammielube.. Little /no fuel (Gauge read zip) as it was heading to the Miami Boat show. T Top, no leaning post.. 6900 lbs on a 1000 lb trailer on a certified scale..... Whatever.. Have a nice evenin... |
Re: 39' Cigarette Top Fish
You do the same :drink:
|
Re: 39' Cigarette Top Fish
I am not sure about the Top Fish name yet for this boat. I can't wait to see it in person though as no doubt Cigarette build a strong boat.
The Top Fish seems a little to blingy for a fish boat and so far nobody has comented on the important things like: 1-the boats lay out like fish boxes and how and if they are insulated, 2-live well, 3-wash down raw and fresh water area, 4-gunwale height, 5-combing pads, 6-are the rear seats removable for fishing, 7-rod lockers and rod holders, 8-storage for fishing gear 9-head room in the cabin 10-head room in the head area |
Re: 39' Cigarette Top Fish
2 Attachment(s)
Behind the console it is a reasonable fishing platform. 55gal live well, 2 fish boxes draining overboard, good space and a reasonable possibility of fishing around the triple engine setup. Upfront it has a large console with head (ala SeaVee and others) and some seats like many other cuddys. Inside the cuddy A/C, TV, and other goodies you would expect to see in an Intrepid or Midnight Express cabin...
Lack of rodholders is going to be an issue... |
Re: 39' Cigarette Top Fish
correct me if I'm wrong. But there's rod holder in the gunnels. You can always add the ones to the tower whenever you want. Maybe they just wanted a "cleaner" look for the boat show CC.
|
Re: 39' Cigarette Top Fish
They need at least 4 rod holder across the top of the bimini and 2 pointing outwards for kingfishing. They also need around 4 on the back and at least 4 on each gunwale. Looks like plenty of room to do this. 2 fish boxes ain't gonna cut it though.
|
Re: 39' Cigarette Top Fish
Its not a bimini.. Ask Cuda :) :)
