Price is going to be $2,500 each for a limited run of just 25. All models will be numbered and will be signed by Michael Aronow. So far, numbers 1, 6, 7 and 13 have been spoken for...if you have an interest and anumber you want, let us know ASAP. Compare this cost to what you spend on a poker run weekend. And this will only go up in value in the future. Below is a photo of a guy that really liked his model...think of how your own numbered and signed model will look in your office or den. www.historicraceboats.com |

Ouch

Re: The Cigarette scale model
I'd really love to have one, but $2500 is out of my league for a model boat. :(

When Don first started Cigarette, it was mainly a race shop and it slowly began to build production boats too. He was making about 2 boats a month and someone asked him if he was worried because the production numbers were so low.....his answer, is the same that guides Michael's decision on the number of these models he will release each year. Don said..." I don't care how many boats we sell as long as the people who buy our boats know that they are buying the very best boat that can be made." When Michael commissioned these models to be made, he approached it with the same attention to detail. You have to remember that the first test run done of the actual race boat, The Cigarette, was Don and Knocky and Michael....he knows this boat and what is authentic and should be on it....this is not some company making up a model from a photo. As for lesser priced items, we have plans for a clothing line of Aronow t-shirts, jackets and hats and the other usual items.....all designs to be approved by Michael and then released to the public. There may even be a RC version of this boat at some time in the future.....that certainly will be of a lesser price. Numbers 22 and 17 have now been taken as of this time also. |
Re: The Cigarette scale model
I'm sure that it will be a very nice model. Where is it being made and by whom?
|
Re: The Cigarette scale model
Once again, how detailed will it be, and what will it be constructed of? Please?
|

They are being made in NY. Michael found a very experienced model maker who was willing to take on the task. Each boat is individually hand built by this man. Another reason why the total number per year is so low. The stand the boat rests on is done by a local marine woodworking company. |

The detail includes everything that the original boat had, both from the original drawings and Michael's own memory of being there, as it was built and being on the boat for the first test ride with Don and Knocky House. |

The one Don is holding in post 5 is the same as Michael has and is the same as used for comparison by the model maker as the project moved forward. |
Re: The Cigarette scale model
Cool, will the engine hatch open to show the details?

Do you have any photographs that show the detail a little better. It's really hard to see the detail in the pictures that are posted. Roger |

An interesting feature, was the use of 2 blade props in 1969 on the sterndrives....even I had forgotten that detail, until I saw it again on the model. It is accurate right down to things like that. |

I see several differences; deck length, scoop sizes etc. I like the one in this picture a little better.:D |
Re: The Cigarette scale model
I am obsessed with the length of deck in relation to overall length. This is why I bought a Gladiator. The new model differs somewhat from the brochure sketches and original pictures. Just my little hang up.

Re: The Cigarette scale model
If some one does produce them I would like to aquire one . Count me in . Rick G 416 213 2600 ezt 305

Re: The Cigarette scale model
As of this date and time....numbers 1, 4, 6, 7, 13, 22, and yes.....30 are taken.
The guy who wanted # 30 ....this is a special number to him and even though we will only release 25 boats this year...once again, the customer wants 30 for a personalized custom boat..he gets 30. Each customer gets a copy of the brochure and a signed, by Michael Aronow, copy of the original line drawing that was used to make the original race boat. These line drawings are suitable for framing for home or office. |

These models that Michael Aronow is releasing now, are hand made made from the orignal drawings for the actual race boat. They are then compared to the original model that was in his dad's office.....plus you have his signature stating it's authenticity with a number from a series....a far cry from something on e-bay. www.historicraceboats.com |
