Why not? Same "issues" as the original T/S Tiger had with 6's?
Pretty much. The weight, and the amount of room needed for the drives and transmissions throws the CG off too much for it to work well. This is why I wish they'd build a 42-X style sitdown (it would be 40ish after the cutdown) that can handle big power like the Maximus. |

Re: Can we find ALL of the Gladiators ??
how many gladiators have drives other then bravos? I know that unleashed has #5 on it and was wondering how that ran and how far forward the motors had to be moved forward in order to get them to fit??
|
Re: Can we find ALL of the Gladiators ??
They all have Bravo's except the Unleashed boat which was converted from Bravos. I 've been wondering how it ran with those drive as well. The new 700 Gladiator should have something other than Bravos, but Im not sure if that project completely went through or not.
|
Re: Can we find ALL of the Gladiators ??
If there are trannies, It would have to be a side by side unless the trannies were completely (100%)in the stand off boxes. No way on god's green earth are you going to get staggered engines with a tranny inside the bilge unless you eliminate the rear seat and move the tanks forward.
Also need side by sides if you want to run Arnesons. Has to do with the notched bottom and the drive locations in relation to it. I could Barely, and I mean Barely fit two big Fords in a staggered configuration. Small blocks? maybe? |

I got sidetracked financially when I rebuilt a road that 5 of my neighbors use to cross my property, (at my expense), and when finished one neighbor tried to shake me down saying he was suffering "emotional distress" since the road was not in the same location as it crossed my property. He lives 4 houses down the road. I said F.U. which started 18 months of legal problems. Drained my discretionary toy fund. It also took longer than I expected as I decided to custom fabricate every single unique piece I needed instead of bastardizing off the shelf stuff. End result is much nicer but took a lot of time and $$. Also because the fit was so dang tight, I had to rig one engine's accessories one way and the other engine's the opposite. That meant each PS pump, water pump and alt bracket was a mirror image of the other. Bottom line; pictures in the water this spring.:D |

Sweet!! Cant wait to see it!!! Cig should start producing more Glads again. Donzi has brought back the ZR comp pretty strong for Miami this year.

Re: Can we find ALL of the Gladiators ??
It would probably ruin the lines of the boat. The lack of a rub rail is what makes the boat.

I agree 1000% |
Re: Can we find ALL of the Gladiators ??
You are right, the rubrail would change the look. The Gladiator is one of the coolest looking boats ever made.
|
Re: Can we find ALL of the Gladiators ??
I disagree.
Don't get me wrong, I like the absent rub rail but the "look" comes from the small cockpit, both narrow and short, sitting completely in the back half of the boat. The nearly flat, uncluttered deck helps. "Cab Forward" looks great on Italian cars but can really ruin an otherwise beautiful boat. Look at the old flat deck cigs or even the old Fountains before they globbed on the swimplatforms. 40 ICBMs were pretty sweet:D |
Re: Can we find ALL of the Gladiators ??
Yep, we owned an all red 40 ICBM. It was a great boat, much better than modern day Fountains. Every one that comes up to the boat the first thing they comment on is the lack of rub rail.
|
Re: Can we find ALL of the Gladiators ??
I had a all red 40 ICBM as well. Painted the rubrail and vents red as well. Added a color matched fairing and the boat was sick! It really updated the appearance alot.

Did the Team USA boat get a makeover at some point or were there 2?

sure is...

damdonzi,
There are two different TEAM USA Gladiators. The first is a more conventional Flag paint scheme that is not staggered engine and the second is the one illustrated on Legacy Marine's website with staggered engines. Both of which are owned by Jerry Brewis. I have ridden on the Gladiator shown on Legacy's website. It is unbelievable. Legacy did a great job with the rigging and attention to detail. Jerry did an incredible job with the design. Fred Brady Allstar Marine - Latitude Sales |
