Which NEW Cigarette?

I'm considering a new boat, which model would you recommend and what power/drive combo? I am leaning towards a 39TG with (2) 700SCI's / NXT.

Re: Which NEW Cigarette?

I would say the search ends there unless you want a 42X. The 39s with the 700s are a fantastic combination from what I hear tell.

Getting ready of the Donzi already?

Re: Which NEW Cigarette?

I'd say thats a perfect package. Cigarette has had great results with it. You get 105mph and a great ride in ruff water. What about your 38 ZR??

omerta one 01-12-2007 01:42 PM

Re: Which NEW Cigarette?

The 38 ZR is an awesome boat. I don't think you can do much better for the price...just thinking about going faster. I've got the 525's / 90 mph and while easy on the pocket I really like the SCI's...also considering another Donzi as well. At $175K less than a Cig and the same speed on a wider hull, it's tough to beat.

Re: Which NEW Cigarette?

I was going to say, the 38 ZR would be a sweet package with 700's. They too have had great results with that package. I believe the ZR is a mph or two faster as well. Either one is a great choice.

39tg with 700s is the perfect package for size and speed, especially on LOTO - 42s may be to big to park

I was on a 600tg a few weeks ago in the keys, awsome boat and great acceleration -

Big Thunder has/had a red 38ZR Daytona package boat (like the one on the Donzi website) with the 700SCI/NXT setup running 106 right out of the box.

Re: Which NEW Cigarette?

they are all beautiful, my question would be this. there are quite a few 100mph 42's and 42X's along with some guns and 39's. Are you dead set on buying new? If you want to go and build one and orderto your liking, I think thats great and congrats. 500k can buy an awful lot of boat thats only a year or so old, maybe some 06's that never touched the water as well.

..... vs. what?

What else are you considering?

Needless to say, I'm presuming you're attending the Miami Show to talk to everyone in one shot vs. flying around the country to get face-to-face w/ each builder.

Whatever you wind up with, good luck in your search and most of all..... have fun.

That boat is going to be hard to beat for the price, i think they were in the mid 300s at the Toad boat show, I could not believe it was that low. Only problem is you will never be able to sell it again, all red had small amount of buyers. the interior was so friggin soft, and the drop outs in back were nice also

I agree with you about the red (ugly)...it's supposed to look like a Ferrari...right. I paid mid $2's for my 38ZR w/525's..so if the upcharge for the 700's is $100k...I guess mid $3's is about right.

That has to be as sweet a package as they come.

Good luck in your search.

Re: Which NEW Cigarette?

I was down at Lip-Ship yesterday. Phil has had good luck with the 700/NXT package. In a 39 you'll run 100mph all day long and run 104-105mph light. A 42 w/700's will run 97mph and 100mph light.

He is also building a very tricked out 38 with 572 Zul's and XR's which should run 100mph. It won't be that much more $$$ than a 525 boat.

Why Is A Top Gun Faster Than A Cafe?

I have read that a Carbon TG is 9500 and a Cafe is 9400 - Why are they faster? Not the stepped hull, just an old Vee? Is it the lenth of the boat that lets it "sit up" inthe water?
