Boat Lift Question

Does anyone know the best location to set up bunks and where to place boat on lift from front to back? Any lift picks or input, the boat is a 1997 38 TG thanks, GB

Here is our old Top Gun. In the 2nd picture, you can sort of see how far apart the bunks are.

What type of lift are you using. The "Hydro-hoist" lifts are set up very different than the one in Bobby's pic.

By the way.....Where's some pics of your ride!?

A myco cradle would be the best set up, just bolt it to your lift, the hull will be surported like it's on the trailer. It would look some what like the surports on my lift I have for sale in the OSO classifieds for my Apache. Nice looking 38 did that come from the eastside of Michigan?

First of all, NICE BOAT!!!! That boat used to be in my area and was named "Keyed Up".

When I first got the lift for my TG, It had 2 X 10's set at an angle. I wasn't comfortable with that, so I had them install 20 foot long 4 x 6's that sat on top of an I-beam with the 4" side flat on the top. The strakes on the TG are 4.5" wide and are basically a flat surface. Make sure that you have the bunks far enough back to support the transom!!!! From the inside of the strake to the inside of the strake on the other side is 48.5" apart. My bunks are 50" apart sitting on the lift and work great. If you would like (and it warms up a little!!) I can take a few pictures of my lift this weekend and post them for you.

Re: Boat Lift Question

gb, my bunks are 38 inch pass the lift, thats so the transom doesn't hang with no support.

Re: Boat Lift Question

Make sure the boat sits nose-high so that the water (that will inevitably get in) flows to the rear vs. the nose, rotting everything out.
