AC install help
I'm installing ac on my tiger. I'm wondering if installing it in the wall locker on the port side is the best place? Would you install return air in door and have a single 8x10 vent facing the front of the boat to shoot the cold air. Is 12,000 BTU large enough. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks Jeremy |

Re: AC install help
Not quite sure about the placement of the unit itself but you will want at least 2-3 vents in adddition to the return. I think most units come with plumbing for at least two. As far as the size itself I think a 12k btu is way overkill dude! I am doing a similaiar install on my Fountain and I am looking at a 6-7k btu unit. That will be plenty. We are not trying to cool Sea Ray.

Re: AC install help
Go here and read up a little on the systems: http://www.marineair.com/pdfs/L-0854B.pdf
I doubt you would need more then a 10k BTU system....they also tell you duct sizing and return vent sizes... |
Re: AC install help
Have a 9,000 btu on Mistress and is more than enough,6,000 btu would probably be perfect.Too large a unit will not run long enough to get the humidity out.

Re: AC install help
I agree with justice. 6-7k btu will definately produce icecicles in that ext covergirl!

Re: AC install help
I had 10 K in my last cig and it struggled to cool it down on real hot humid days...

Re: AC install help
I was told by the ac manu. that I should run 1 vent more vents would cause it to freeze up. ???

I have a 12K btu in a Cafe, cools a 110 cabin to 75 in about 20 minutes, using 2 vents.
