having problem finding correct prop
I have a 38 t/s with 575sc's. when I bought boat i was running 33 lab finished 4 blades and running 90-91mpg. After investing in intercoolers, the boat would barely get on plan with the 4 blades (washing out due to increase in hp).I then tried 32 4 blade bravo's 32's which didn't help the problem and after further discussion with Bob Teague i spent 3k more and purchased 28p 5 blade 15 1/4 maximus. Well, the boat comes out of the hole like it did when i purchased (great) but now im running in the mid 80's and bouncing off the rev limiter which was increased to 5600. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I spent what i thought was good money on a smart investment to help performance, increase reliability and prevent detonation and know i've lost approx 5 mph. Should i be changing to a larger 5 blade??? thanks for any help you can give!!

Take your 32p props - send them to Brett @ BBlades.
Have the props "flat pitched" You also may want to add a 1" drive spacer. Mabe a 1.5" spacer if you have a sportmaster drive. After taking the Tres Martin school, I asked Tres about the set up of my TG. The above is what he suggested. I have done them and his suggestions work. I "just" ran the boat after adding the spacer. I gained about 2MPH from the limited time I have run it thus far. Your 33p props. Were they originally 34's? If so, talk to Brett about making them easier to plane. The 34's have a "unique" geometry to them that makes getting on plane difficult. He can fix that. |
Or you could consider changing propellers. The 38' and 39's have been running very well with the semi-cleavers designs on them. We built a set of CNC props for Joe's 39' and the boat picked up several MPH on top.
