375stinger 05-30-2007 03:00 PM

entire boat old school and original as possible...but with a merc 525.....just my .02

Stormrider 05-30-2007 03:04 PM

i'd like to see it mostly original w/ updated gauges and some nice power... nothing too scary of course. ;)

Wild 05-30-2007 03:15 PM

I think i am going to leave the 454 just build it up a little, not to radical, and the TRS until it blows or parts are two hard to find, then replace it with a Konrad.

smart play... keep the initial overhead low.

this toy will be more fun if its real low cost.

Ditto.

It looks clean and original. Keep it old school with modern upgrades as needed. It is kind of like a vintage Ferrari or Vette. If it was bought as a basket case than custom for sure, but a nice clean original w/ modern conveniences will get twice as many looks.
Just my $.02

Or even a used 500EFI. Kinda like a Boyd Coddington street rod with Z06 running gear underneath. :D I'm sure Phil will help out with some ideas too!

38cigmike 05-31-2007 12:23 PM

I saw Phil's last week. All I can say is wow!!!
I think it would look good in black and silver.

Here's what's going to happen, and I speak from experience. You'll get it torn down, and when you start to rebuild you'll end up replacing everything. It's impossible to resist, especially when Phil shows you all the cool new stuff you can put in it. :drink:

Stormrider 06-01-2007 09:23 AM

I don't know about that... it looks just the way it did the last time Dons hands touched it. This is a pc of history. Just get a new Lipship boat. Unless phil can retromod it somehow.

Cig19 06-01-2007 10:09 AM

Old school for sure IMO.

Although when you see Phil's you might change your mind. I saw it last yr at the 20 ft run on the Ohio River...........and WOW what a real nice job they did

Hope to make it out there this year as well.
