85 plus????? anybody else disagree???

Dangerous Dave 06-28-2007 09:38 PM

I'm gonna agree with spitfire on the 85+, no way. Espically with that TRS and a motor with stock Merc exhaust

I call BS too. Looks like a stock 454 Mag and a TRS. But, speed claims aside, it may be a nice boat to look into.

They don't return calls. I spoke to someone a few days back and never heard back. Looks nice but the speed seems high.

Hey, how is the restoration going ?

Air Dog 07-04-2007 07:06 AM

Tomorrow morning at 8:30am (July 5th), my first son will be born via cesearian.

This has slowed the Cig 20 restoration quite a bit.

I have chosen the engine that I want to use, (a fuel injected 502), now I just need some more money.

:D

A-1 07-04-2007 08:12 AM

502

How fast do you think it will be with a 502? What drive are you using? Who sells the 502 and at what price.

I'm thinking maybe low 70's tops @6K rpm and a 22 pitch prop. Maybe the purple paint on the TRS adds the extra 15 MPH!:D

My Cig 20 was converted from a Volvo drive to a Bravo I drive.

I like the 502 Mag because it will be lower profile than a carb set up, trying to keep the original engine hatch which is flat.

I also would really like fuel injection.

That engine is around 410hp if I remember right and that should put it over 70mph.

Hoping for high 70's, but my hull is a 1972 so it is very thick and heavy.

My old 20 cig 1978 ran 65 with 330/trs upgraded the motor to 450hp ran about 75-77 mph on radar, needs full hydraulic steering and experienced driver to keep it from chine walking at high speeds, really cool 20 boats take the chop nice and built very strong.A true classic
