Blower motor hatch options???
I keep looking at Ywaits cig, wondering why it wont sell. I know my wife would never think of having a boat without some form of a sunpad. My question is what can be done to that hatch, or a replacement that has room for the engines, but still retains some padded surface? Is that even possible?

Corey, The only thing you can really do is install a regular style hatch/sun pad with blower scoops cut out. This would not totally solve wife's issues, but kinda somewhat of a compromise ;)
I have the raised solid fiberglass blower hatches on mine so I can (or should I say my wife) relate. :D Chris |

This is kinda the idea. Not sure exact measurements and how it would lay out on that rig, but anyway ...

Knew that was a Tiger just thought that 'idea' might be an option, but if they're too high maybe it's not.
Any other ideas or options for Corey? I know you would just leave well enuf alone Tank, but ..... :) |

I have a 98 TG with Blown/Intercooled motors, Bravo. Here is a blurry pic of the hatch. This set up gives you access to the rear cleats/ through the center you can get in/out of the water, and there is aprox. 2' of pad in front. The scoops are glassed in with pad all around except the rear.
I've had the glass blower hatch, this is much better in my opinion. |

Corey Also you should cut some holes or a slot in the back of the scoop to let the air out. Those scoops and feed a bunch of air and it can go up the inside of the hull and damage the cabin vinyl. Here is what RWD looked like with big intercoolers and transmissions. |
I have a standard hatch if anyone's interested.

Mine is a 90 Cafe with Blowers and Bravos so no tranny. Let me know if you would like some pictures of anything. Actually I am looking more closely now and mine are not nearly as big as the ones that NJ posted. |
Here is another Top Gun with big blower motors. You can see he has a blower hatch and a small sunpad in front of it. The boat is down here in South Florida.

or . . . . you could put one of these on it :D similar to the cig TG factory race/blower hatch but the raised section is the whole length of the hatch. Freshly lofted mold, I did this one for member Dnebo last year contact him or I for further info.

That looks fantastic. Only problem is, the hatch on the boat is already the raised blower hatch, so I would have to start from scratch:rolleyes:

Corey, I don't guess your blowers would fit under the new style raised hatch used on the later model Guns? Those are very nice looking units but don't know if they would give you enough room.
I was wondering about the later style hatch, but I still think the blowers in a couple of the guns I am looking at create too much height, thus needing scoops. Both boats I am looking at now have the tall blower hatch, and the wifey won't consider it. I can't totally blame her since thats her favorite area on a boat. Corey |
Cp performance used to sell them, I got mine from a local FG shop

The Mirrorplex is held on with a special adhesive, looks like silicone but made to not lift the mirror backing. Daytona Plastics sells it along with the mirrorplex. I like the Hatch Glass Dave made. How much does the Glass Dave Hatch weigh?
|
slightly (but not by much) less than a factory race hatch but i can lay them up lighter if need be.

You can have a pad with blowers and intercoolers.....take a look! There is also another padded area behind the rear seat. I've never seen another one like it.....works great!!

Nice Boat. Very well kept.

I have these and love them - they look agressive and solid, and not only are they not in the way on the sunpad, but they allow you to rest stuff there that you don't want to slide down off the boat (coke cans, water bottles, etc....) Plenty of room for the girls to kick back and get some sun while the guys are busy main-lining cheap liquor.
