Cigarette Rehab!?
3 Attachment(s)
Let the games begin! Today was the real first day of work to be done on this 24'. The the vinyl striping was removed and the bottom soda blasted. It look like there is much work to be done on the hull, followed by a complete redo of the teak work. I will keep posting progress pics.

Sweet, have fun with the project.

Looks like a whole lot of lumber on the bow of that boat .
Good luck. Keep us up to date with photos . Paul |

|
Nice! Finished product will be sweet when complete ... keep that thought fresh while sweatin that project :D
Will be well worth the effort  |
Awesome.......I LOVE that boat!!!!
|
this will be a thread worth watching!
keep the pics coming. |
I'm almost ashamed to say, but I was looking at a product from Plasteak to replace the real wood it looks great and lends itself to more boating and less maintance. The website is Plasteak.com, what do you think.
|
no... and i wont look.
just clean up the teak, and oil it. |
Whatever you do, DO NOT replace the teak!!!
Aside from what others say, teak is not that difficult to maintain. I've used to Watco Teak Oil and have loved the results. You can find it at Home Depot. |
I agree do not replace the teak. I may be out of line but shame on you for even considering it. I like Te Ka brand cleaner and no sealer.
Teak looks great and even smells good. Respectfully, Jim |
No way brother ... sorry :angry-smiley-044:. :signs069::wuerg019:
:D |
WOW.....I guess adding sails is out of the question!!!!! LOL
|
you can always leave the teak bleached in color and not oil it too.
|
Yes, it was top shelf on the left side awaiting service and soda blasting.
|
Leave the teak on !! It is great !!, just maybe redo the sealings or sand it as new.
My opinion... |
Leave the Teak! What an awesome boat. Good luck with the rehab, the finished product will be well worth it. That is one of those boats that when complete you could raft up next to a 3/4 million dollar Rough Rider and get more looks and admiration!

Teak maintenence
I had a MAGNUM 35' w/teak cockpit a few yrs ago. Used A(cleaner) than B (brightner) than 4 coats of Sickens clear. Than just put on 1 coat every yr. Everone said it looked like a bowling alley.................HIGH LIFE
|
I freaking hate teak! People who say to keep it, don't have to maintain it. I think teak looks like crap anyway.
Jmho. |
Keep the teak & best of luck with your project!! As Tom A. previously stated, you're boat will get lots of looks when pulled up next to a $750k boat.

I replaced my teak with mahogany. I have gotten alot of compliments and have done nothing to it in the last 4 yrs..................looks great IMO.
Good luck with the project. Its not easy but will be worth it in the end:ernaehrung004: Ken |
Knoll,
that boat is so unique with the wood on the deck and hatch, I helped Cig 19 with his project and the pictures of the teak in the before are so brutal i dare not post them but seeing the way the mahogany worked out and looks and it is very low maint. I looked at a 24 like that twin in line 6 volvo's and the teak deck a few years back sorry i passed on it now good luck with the project keep the wood:D |
