Owned both. 42X is hands down winner. 39 700 package is great runs 100 mph. Problem with the 39 is you can’t get the QC4 engines in a full stagger. 42X is deeper much better ride and you can get a full 20” stagger. It also handles the big power with 8 drives nicely.

Our 39 was a 2011 w/700’s and our 42X is a 2015 w/1100’s. Both are great boats.

You have to respect 39 Unlimited's experience with both hulls. With the 39 the balance and engine stagger observations are not a deal breaker in my humble opinion. I have two good friends with 39's. First is the notorious "Pink B-tch" which runs around 110 - 112 with 850's and 6 drives. The other is a 2017 with 700's and 6 drives which runs around 100 - 102. Phil say's that the 39 is the best hull ever built by Cigarette, I'm certainly not gonna argue. No bad choice here, Good Luck!

blast from the past thread right here.

Did Pink B!tch not sell yet? Seems to be a lot of boat for the money.

The 39 with the 700's and NXT's was a great set-up - too bad you can't get a new one any longer. With the whipple upgrades mine ran right around 110 - IMHO there's no need to go any faster in that hull.

Tank, It may go this weekend. A serious buyer is coming in from LOTO to check it out. A lot of strokers and keyboard warriors who want to buy it for 150k, or trade in a car, bike, Asian concubine etc.

I agree, an incredible ride. Amazing how all the fast talkers fear the 850's, like they are the plague. Just about everyone who was interested in the rig wished it was priced at 175k with 700's! When Joe blasts past all the Goomba's running 80, truly a "Suck My Wake" moment!

PS Please revisit the movie "The Great Outdoors" for "Suck My Wake" relevance.

So can you not even order the new 860's in a 39?
