36' Gladiator Lip-Ship - Differences Between Model Years '02 - '05

When shopping for a 36' Gladiator, preferably Lip-Ship edition, are there any differences that I should be aware of between 2002 - 2005? Major design\performance changes like hull design etc..?

Also any speed difference in a staggered vs side by side power config? Looking at 525's.

Thanks for any feedback

Not going to find any pre '02 Glads. Thats the year they started making them

Check my 2002 out in the classifieds. I can tell you everthing from staggered to side by side. Plus, my boat is about 20 miles from you!!

Is yours the one with the prochargers?
If not, how about a link.

From what I have gathered, there was a hull change in 03. The bottom was re-worked by Michael Peters. There are staggered and non staggered set-ups, and there are wide and narrow cockpits. Also, in late 03, the X dimensions were lowered slightly.

Thanks, thats the kind of details I'm looking for!
Also noticed in research and reading there were a couple of Left hand drives (example)

Is one of the boats listed in the classified section the one that rolled and was redone?

I have a left hand drive and combined it with the forward motor on the starboard side. I believe that engine config. became the norm afterwards.

Rich,
Very nice! Good luck with it.

Bossman - Good looking boat, nice find!

Tony - Good looking machine but, I've pretty much decided if I do switch boats I'm sticking with the turn key reliability of stock 525's. I bet the mid-range punch is great on that Vortech setup.

Anybody else have anymore info to throw out here?

you should feel the mid-range punch of 800 zuls, n/a zuls are as reliable if not more than 525s, no electronics to speak of, just basic big block muscle.:cool-smiley-027:

I'm sure it must be quit a rush!
I need to keep the power reasonable to keep the insurance in line.

BOSSMAN 02-17-2008 11:53 AM

I found that with 525's I had no problem with insurance. The 750's or anything over 525 made it 3 times as high and then only a few companies to pick from.

Yes, my findings were the same.
I'm pretty much interested in a Staggered 525 setup.

So from what I've read only mild changes in later '03 models
other then that nothing significant?

Check out mine in the classifieds!! Ready to sell!!!

Jeffrey, (founder of OSO) did a direct comparison between two Gladiators a few years ago, one a 525 and a side/side 525. IIRC, he said the handling and attitude of the boat was negligible, and the staggered was more difficult at the docks. You should be able to find the old post by searching here on OSO.

You're boat is beautiful and the right setup, it's the hours that concern me. Just my personal preference. I sent someone an email on it a week or two ago and received all the details, thanks.
Is that your personal boat or are you the broker?

Its our boat. The boat is in great shape, and everything is in tip top shape, motors and drives. I dont think your going to find a 525 boat for the same price with less hours!! Compared to the others out there you could go through everything on our boat even though you dont have to and still be under money wise. Let me know if you want any more info. Who gave you the information, Xtreme Marine or Ocean Performance?

Not sure, Ken was the guys name. The email or email address didn't disclose which one. I just used the OSO classified ad, noticed there were 2 after sending request for more info. They did a good job of providing plenty of pictures and copies of the work orders for your resent service.

OL40SVX 02-19-2008 03:20 PM

That was my dad, not a broker since he owns the boat.

That would explain the very prompt response with good supporting pic's and doc's.
