This is the 90mph paint. Not sure what the thunder II is.

I heard there's a Cafe that lives on a lift at Grand Lake!:party-smiley-004:

MickeyBoy 04-30-2008 09:40 AM

I don't understand why it's called 90 MPH...

Tom A. 04-30-2008 09:46 AM

Here is an older thread link, it was a factory package of staggered motors, #5 drives and special paint scheme. Guaranteed to do 90mph upon delivery. Very respectable speeds for back then.

StraightJacket 04-30-2008 09:47 AM

From what I understood is that they were limited production and guaranteed to run 90mph or better.

Still pretty respectable today!

Agreed, but with that kind of power in today's boats, you would see speeds close to 20 mph faster!

BTW, that was always my favorite Cigarette. I love the old school two tone paint and staggered set up in a straight bottom gun.

wananewboat 05-01-2008 07:09 AM

Has anyone ever done that paint on a new 38 or 39?

We have a copy of the orginal Cigarette sales agreement on our Cafe. It shows 'Thunder II' on paint so I assumed that was cigs label for the 90 MPH scheme.

Kool-Aid Man 05-01-2008 09:39 AM

Thanks...should be done in another month (motors/drives) I'll post more pics when i get them

that looks very nice, I've seen a couple other where the colors are inverted (light hull and dark stripes) and didn't like them but that looks really sharp.

Also like that you got the correct font on the side of the fairing.

Very nice indeed. Post more when it's done.

Kool-Aid Man 05-01-2008 10:46 AM

Doug (owner of Pure Adenaline) was nice enought to take pics and measurements for me to make sure everything was identical including font to his.

The only thing i've added was the on the deck(cowell) under Cigarette I put Racing Team...i liked how that looked on Red Cloud.

The Konrads are at my engine builders and the blown 598ci should be done in two weeks

BLee 05-02-2008 08:08 AM

"Doug" has the one I want. Best all around Cigarette model ever in my opinion.

I'm thinking about doing that sheme on my 95 Top Gun, only blue w/white (rather than red). So I don't have to repaint the transom again. Seems like a fairly easy paint job.

Not sure how it would look. Any thougts?

They did a Rough Rider like that back in the 90's. It's over in the UAE I believe. Looks really good. Dark blue hull with a white stripe. There's a small picture of it in Phil's little clothing shop on the wall across from the bathroom if anyone can remember to take a pic of the pic. :D

I knew I'd seen one that was blue before. I like the way it looked. Very clean.

wananewboat 05-13-2008 03:27 PM

Who has the older TG with that paint with the white #6s that I have seen in KW? That is very nice looking boat.
