I love the silver. Wish I would have considered that also when I had mine installed.

I really like the silver and contemplated going with it when I painted my drives this winter but couldn't decide what it would look like on a white transom - there's no question it looks great on a dark colored transom...

I like the silver, looks great.

That strap that you have on the port drive, does that hole go all the way through the drive?

It does. But, they make a lifting fixture that bolts to the top cap that lifts from the center of balance. You'll see one in a few weeks.

The pics don't do justice to the paint...it's sparkly in person! You'd better be in the water by June 13th...South Haven is waiting!

I'm on borrowed time with my Bravos. What's involved in installing these drives and what's the parts total bill?

Chris Sunkin 05-26-2008 09:04 PM

There are two different conversions. The TRS conversion is a part-for-part swap of components. The Konrad will bolt to the TRS gimbal or you can use the Konrad Gimbal. The bravo conversion is a bit more complex and expensive. Since the drive requires a transmission, the Bravo unit has to hide the 72C in an extension box. The upside is you get bulletproof 800 horse power handling capacity and you don't have to move your engines or buy new tails for your exhaust.

If you are on Bravos and you are scared, then switch to XR's. Talk to artcticfriends or rmbuilder about treating the gears and otehr upgrades to the bravo. It is cheaper than the Konrad and can get you up to 1100HP from what I have read on some other threads.

baja502x2 05-27-2008 07:11 PM

I'm sure I'll be switching to XR's. Seems to be the best bang for buck. Not to jack this thread but what to you need to change to XR's gimble bearings and ???

Technically, all you need is the thinner gimble bearing and the rest bolts on.

You could consider rebuilding the gimble while you have the thing apart. or at least the boots.

Good luck. You will loose a few MPH after you do the conversion. That is just the way it is with the bigger gears in the drives.

cig92 06-03-2008 10:34 PM

good luck with xr's.... never gonna keep em togerther, 1100 hp ???????? go with the konrads
