Keeping wheel centered !!

Installed an Isotta wheele ( the one that is flattened at the bottom ) with the hydrolic imco steering system its always off center after a run....guess i should have done some research !! However before buying a new round wheele, ANYONE have advice on how to return a wheele to center with hydrolic steering ?????? guy with the crooked wheele !!

As far as I know its almost impossible to keep it centered all the time. My advice is don't worry about it. Just my .02

Buy a steering wheel that is symetrical all the way around so you don't notice it.

dont you worry, there is no shortage of dumb guys here....:evilb::evilb:

when i redid the dash in the cafe, i didnt even think about it... thats how dumb i am....:evilb::evilb:

what i always did when i shut it down at the dock, i would always turn the wheel the way it was supposed to go.... this way i looked like i knew what i was doing.... after a while, it became second nature....

the wheel looks so much better than most, it looks better upside down, then most do upright.....lol

stecz20 05-27-2008 04:32 PM

I don't know if this works or not, but I ran across this post about centering the wheel.

ON the IMCO full hydraulic system you simply take the wheel to the stops (whil;e counting the turns) and hold it. The pressure relief valve opens; you count the turns back to center: and voila! wheel is centered.

The wheels cget out of alignment due to the pounding they take and the relief valve is constanly opening a tad bit eventually causing the alignment to get out of whack...

BGIII, Makes sense. probably can center it that way it may take more than one try. Then next time you use it you will likely need to do it again.
I think there are better things to spend your time on then centering the wheel.
